    Think of these two tools not as separate tools doing different things, but as one integrated tool. Each tool has different experiences built into it and can be launched from the other seamlessly.

    Microsoft product manager: you listed several reasons you think it should be bundled, but not 1 reason why we can't opt-out (like a checkbox). If it's really about choice, then let us choose.

    "Doesn't matter if ADS _can_ be uninstalled without affecting SSMS. It shouldn't be installed in the first place unless the user asks for it."

    Agree completely. Bundling it is OK, but it needs to be optional for installing.
