This suggestion has two parts:
1. Use default route or forced tunneling on P2S client rather than split tunneling
2. Enable Azure VPN gateway as an forward proxy to the Internet
At this point, these will be considered as long term roadmap items.

I ran into this issue today as I have requirements for specific client requests to come from a known public IP address. If this had worked it would have saved the need for infrastructure to be deployed and a proxy configured.

The Product Group is coming up with the support of managed identity for Automation to be used instead of Runas account with a tentative ETA of CY21 March-End. All our investments would be towards moving customers to use managed identity rather than RunAs.

We’re really pleased to let you know that we’ve released the first authentication method APIs to public preview:
So far there are APIs for managing phone numbers and password resets. When phone numbers are set with the API, the user can use that number for MFA and SSPR (as allowed by your tenant’s policy).
The team is hard at work at building out APIs for all of the other authentication methods, and we’ll update the response here as they’re released.

We have released the Authentication administrator and Privileged authentication administrator roles that can manage the authentication methods of the user. If you are using Azure AD Premium, consider enforcing MFA on the user using Conditional Access. We are continuing to work on other roles that will let you manage other MFA settings.

This is not something that we have on our roadmap. It is something that we may consider in the future.

The status of this item has been moved back to Under Review. We initially planned to move to VHDX support as part of our support for HyperV Gen2 VMs, but we ended up using the VHD format for Gen2 VMs as well. Some aspects of the Azure Infrastructure do not cleanly support VHDX OS or data disks. So this feature is dependent on some of these internal services being updated which is an ongoing process.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We will be further reviewing this feature and will update soon when we have more details.
