I’m the first to post a useful comment. This must make me special.

Seriously though, this would be an excellent solution to having to create a new “scratchdb” to hold my interim ETL data. This would be a major plus in simplifying design of a high performance app.

In 2014, memory optimized tables, and delayed durability can be used help mitigate these Issues. However neither of this are always completely viable solutions. Brent’s proposed solution is likely the simplest way to achieve this with the least amount of unwanted impact. It is important to note that other platforms implement similar functionality as well. Notably Oracle.

There are so many good things about this suggestion. I am amazed that SQL does not have the capability to turn off logging for certain tables that you define as no…

a feedback from sql server team about this would be very interresting. also the thoughts behind the fact, that the debugging functionality is also removed. might be, in the next releases some other features will be removed, argumented by less usage. would be interresting, wich feature this will be

    Dietmar Mueller commented  ·

it is removed! https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/sql-server-management-studio-changelog-ssms?view=sql-server-2017 --> see the end of the release notes.

i can absolutely not understand this. which feature will replace the missing diagram --> simple sql? nice and cool, but not really helpful. do we need in future 3th party tools for digramms and for debugging? horrible situation with the new 18.0 ssms --> hopefully ms will rethink this stuff and put it again into ssms

--> You could use Microsoft Visio or other third party ER modeling tools.

absolutely not acceptable this answer for this request!

    Hi Vijay

Thank you for your feedback. The concept of global variables and the ability to ‘package’ stored procedures and modules is very useful functionality. We are considering it for a future SQL Server release.

    Hi Sara,

Thanks for your info. Can you let me know which release of SQL Server that it is planned.

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Vijay,

At this point of time, we havent decided on which release of SQL Server we will add this. Unfortunately this will not be in SQL Server 2008 but we will definitely consider it for the release after that.

    Thanks,
    -Vineet Rao.
