Think of these two tools not as separate tools doing different things, but as one integrated tool. Work is actively underway to add naked domain support with an automatic renewal flow to App Service Managed Certificates. There have been some snags getting the auto-renewal flow working. We understand these kinds of delays are frustrating, but rest assured the feature is being worked on and is coming in the future.

DNSSEC remains on our long term roadmap, however it is unlikely to be available in CY 2019. If DNSSEC is a critical and immediate requirement for your business we’d suggest that you consider evaluating 3rd party DNS hosting solutions that provide this feature.
