Somebody in Microsoft has partnership with third parties that will offer this for a price! Improve it but not remove a tool without asking users or the deprecated feature will be the entire SSMS!

This is indeed a known issue in SSMS 18.0 (up until Preview 6).

I expect to have a fix in the next Preview.

In the meanwhile, you can workaround it by doing this:
    1) Close SSMS
    2) Edit the following file …\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Application\ssms.Application.pkgdef by replacing
    “DDEApplication”=“ssms.18.0”
    with
    “DDEApplication”=“ssms.15.0”
    3) Save the file

    Thanks,
    -Matteo

The new version is giving my a impression that is done in a hurry and as a result badly developed.

Microsoft does not care about Report Server and does not help at all people that by mistake choose to use this tool. I am not sure which one should I forgot about CORE or REPORT SERVER or BOTH!

    Celso commented  ·

It is a long time since I am waiting for that and the only thing that I saw is the fact that a lot of third party are selling this tool but Microsoft. Should I give up of ASP NET Core for websites that is using SQL Server once it is not possible to use Report Server? Microsoft is asking us to avoid what Report Server or ASP NET Core?

    Celso commented  ·

I really do not understand why there is no Report Viewer to Asp Net Core, yet! There are a lot of third parts that offers this. I think Microsoft intend us to buy licensing and help them out. There is no explanation why report server is not available once database without report tools is useless, and them there is NO REASON to move to ASP.NET Core.
