I very much hope that the updates will be similar to Mongo. You can create a document that only contains the fields you wish to update. If the field is not in the existing document it gets added.

They need to get all the mongo functionality into the non-mongo libraries.

Please DO as there are those with very limited budgets that cant shell out cash for the other search options.

I would very much like this feature or even Regex searching like in mongodb?

Azure Cosmos DB now supports GROUP BY queries! With GROUP BY, you can run queries that group your results according to the values of one or more specified properties. This feature is currently supported in Data Explorer, JavaScript SDK 3.4, and .NET SDK 3.3. Support for other SDKs will be available later this year.

Thank you for your suggestion. This is not currently on our road map.

As suggested by others, customers are implementing this pattern using the same container with a partition key per tenant or a synthetic key with the tenant id and one or more other properties.

Will mark this as unplanned and leave open and will revisit this in future planning cycles.

Thank you for your suggestion and votes.

We also need Sub-collections for MongoDB support. Mongo creates a new collection for each C# Type. Its too expensive to have that many collections.

I heard this was in the works. Can we get an update?

We’re excited to announce that we are making this a lot easier with our preview of Autopilot. With Autopilot, Azure Cosmos DB will automatically manage and scale the RU/s of your containers based on the usage. This eliminates the need for custom scripting to change RU/s and makes it easier to handle bursty, unpredictable workloads.

You can try out Autopilot in your Cosmos accounts by going to the Azure Portal and enabling the feature in the “Preview Features” blade.

This feature would go very nicely with Azure Functions.

There should be a plan like 400 RU reserved with bursts up to 1000 RU (if resources are available at the time) We should be charged for the bursts but then auto scales back down. Usually bursts are only needed for a couple minutes.

    Tom Tucker commented  ·

Yeah I usually have 0-200 RU's but then have temporary spikes up to 500 RU's So at my 400RU account it usually works but sometimes gets throttled. Would be nice to have Roll Over RU's like cell phone data.

I would like to describe aliases for a list of key words or phrases.
For example when a user issues a query for "Kleenex" I want to return "facial tissue" result also. Or when a user queries for "Plate" or "PL" the items with "Flat" are returned too. My application is a bit more specific but the same principle applies. I would like to have a list of words or letter combinations that when one is searched for all are returned as results. Basically custom defined Synonyms in every search.

There are multiple responses to this suggestion.

Support for SQL-like syntax for UPDATE, DELETE and INSERT INTO are not on our road map at this time.

However, the underlying functionality for an UPDATE, SET is essentially a PATCH. This functionality we are actively working on. See this User Voice item here to track for future updates. https://feedback.azure.com/forums/263030-azure-cosmos-db/suggestions/6693091-be-able-to-do-partial-updates-on-document

    Thank you for your suggestion.
