@Anders: Thanks for your feedback. We are working on prioritizing this work, and will post an update soon.

Great suggestion. We are looking at enriching AI with top N dependency types for Azure services, Redis being on that list. Please stay tuned :)

This feature is still pending the integration of the portal into Azure, planned for the next semester.

This feature is still on hold, while we plan the move of the Analytics portal into Azure.

This feature is still at the "planned" mode, with regard to community examples. Some out-of-the-box Microsoft examples are already available on the analytics home page.

Update - implementation still hasn't started due to other priorities. We still plan to do this, so we keep the status as "planned".

Push notification for Smart Detection alerts work was pushed forward due to other higher propriety work items, the status remains planned.

Can you please offer a more concrete example? Are you building dashboard graphs by pinning ME blades or by writing Analytics queries?

Can you please explain your scenario, where you need CSV/JSON for a specific event?

In order to help with adopting the SDK to send results from your custom availability tests, we have added a new Azure function template called “AppInsightsHttpAvailability-CSharp”. To find this, please select “Monitoring” in the scenario dropdown when you go to add a new Azure function from a template. You can get more information from its source here: https://github.com/Azure/azure-webjobs-sdk-templates/tree/dev/Templates/contents/AppInsightsHttpAvailability-CSharp.

You can replace the template test with any arbitrary test, use client certificates, deploy to an App service environment so it can access network protected applications.
Give it a run and let us know if it works for your scenarios. Also, what other templates would you like us to provide? We are looking at providing a Docker template with Selenium and AI SDK baked in. I don’t have an ETA on that at this time though.

The team has had to shift priorities, and we expect to complete the remaining UI pieces, and finalize the billing model in the April timeframe. Meanwhile, the TrackAvailability SDK is now available in the .NET stable SDK (https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.ApplicationInsights/).

Please note that when the feature is released as public preview, we may limit the number of tests, and the rate at which you can report results from custom tests. Also, while this will be free for you to try in public preview, there may be a billing implication for continued usage when this feature is generally available.

Please note that pending the UI changes, data sent via the TrackAvailability SDK will *ONLY* be accessible via the following:
    1. In the Metrics Explorer, the 2 Availability metrics - Availability and Test duration, will be aggregates across all your tests, including custom (reported via SDK) and the AI executed ping/multi-step tests. You may segment these metrics by test/location etc.
    2. In the Search Explorer - you can view raw results from all your tests
    3. Using Analytics queries: All results will be available for querying
    4. Alerts: The aggregate availability, and test duration metric will be available in the metrics dropdown, and include the results from custom tests.
    5. Continuous exports

The 2 key areas, custom tests will NOT be available from are the following:
    1. The Availability exploration and diagnostics experiences.
    2. Alerting on availability of specific test locations

    Thanks,
    Dash

Thanks Antonio and Kaushik, for your comments on the SDK approach. We are looking to have support for this by the end of this year.

Last octet is dropped by AI by design, since it represents PII (personally identifiable information). As you mentioned you can do this through the SDK or enrichment (i.e. customer can proactively collect PII, but not out of box). Can you describe a scenario where the full IP is required to triage/diagnose a production issue?

Thanks for your feedback. We already support logging of the full IP. Just log it using the AI SDK as a custom event. We've also added a suggestion to add an option (off by default) to collect full IP as part of the default auto-collection. Please let us know if you are still blocked on your scenario.

Thank you for showing your support for this feature and seeing the value it would add to Smart Detection.

We are continuing to assess when we can address this. Any more specific feedback on exactly what you’d like to see and how you would use this would be great.

    Thank you
    Dale

we have not closed on a plan at this time. As a workaround however, please note the update here: https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/357324-application-insights/suggestions/14428134-add-alerts-based-on-results-of-analytics-queries. With the support for metrics derived from analytics queries, you can track an aggregate of the data received, and set a different number when there are no results. Let us know if that works for you.
