I’m happy to announce that same-region Read Replicas are now in public preview.

You can start using them today in every region Azure Database for PostgreSQL is available.

Thank you so much for being a supporter of this feature, and giving your feedback.

      Documentation:
      Overview -https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/postgresql/concepts-read-replicas
      How-to – https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/postgresql/howto-read-replicas-portal

      Best,
Rachel, on behalf of the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team

Same region read replicas have been actively developed and are expected to be ready for private preview in the next 4-6 weeks. We will send invitation to those who voted for this idea once it is available.

Pardon delay(s) and thank you for your patience! As a young Azure service (< 1 y.o.!) we sometimes set goals that are too ambitious and then have to adjust estimates for delivery. We're doing our best to avoid it going forward, i.e. provide estimates only when we have high confidence.

Please feel free to e-mail us at AskAzureDBforPostgreSQL@service.microsoft.com if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Unfortunately it is not in the immediate plans (1-2 months). To reflect current status appropriately I changed it to Unplanned. I am sorry I don't have better news today.

Nik on behalf of Azure Database for PostgreSQL team

Thank you for your interest in our service! We have been adjusting our planning process since our service became generally available (GA) back in March. We can speak with high confidence about features/deliverables that are coming very soon. For others priorities may, and likely will, be changed multiple times as our backlog is very dynamic (with all benefits and disadvantages of it). For those other deliverables we don't have ETA and as of now Timescale is one of them. So as much as we'd love to deliver Timescale and many other items in the next 4-8 weeks, we won't be able to do it.
Going forward we'd like to improve our process to be able to provide (confidently!) some time frame for some selected long term items that are priority for our customers. We are yet to reach the point when we can do it.

Thank you for your understanding and patience,
Nik on behalf of Azure Database for PostgreSQL team

          Thank you for your feedback

We have updated the documentation on the quickstarts and the tutorials to include examples of the syntax, and a reference to the regions and pricing tier page for guidance about allowed combinations.

          See this section: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/quickstart-create-server-database-azure-cli#create-an-azure-database-for-postgresql-server

The additional feature request of having a cmdlet generate valid values is currently unplanned.

          Thanks,
Rachel on behalf of the Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

Thanks for your feedback Eric. We'll follow your recommendation on documentation

Thanks for using Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

Where are you requesting that we display this url encoded version? You mention that you got the first string – was this from one of our documents? Do let me know so we can update it. Also, you can directly use the GitHub issues commenting system to request changes to Azure documentation on a document page.

            Thanks,
Rachel on behalf of the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team

            Thanks for your feedback Timur.

I think this feedback item speaks to your second comment also https://feedback.azure.com/forums/597976-azure-database-for-postgresql/suggestions/33652192-allow-to-login-with-the-real-username-instead-of-u and you can see our response there.
