Thanks for the feedback. We are planning to support DNS aliases for serverless databases that use auto-pause/resume. Note that serverless databases can already use DNS aliases if auto-pause is disabled.

Appreciate the feedback on this topic. Note that several improvements in this regard have since come online. For example:

More choices in eDTUs per pool and eDTUs per DB; higher storage limits; higher database limits:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/new-price-performance-choices-for-azure-sql-database-elastic-pools/

Additional eDTU choices and higher eDTU limits per DB:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/higher-database-edtu-limits-for-standard-elastic-pools-in-azure-sql-database/

Storage add-ons (to get more storage without having to purchase more compute):
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/new-performance-levels-and-storage-add-ons-in-azure-sql-database/

Other feedback mentioned will be taken into consideration for future improvements.

Thanks for the feedback. Note that it is possible to define an alert once for databases in an elastic pools using OMS (Log Analytics).

Blog describing OMS for SQL DB including elastic pools:
    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/msoms/2017/02/21/azure-sql-analytics-solution-public-preview/

Article also describes using OMS for elastic pools within the context of a sample app:
