    Would love to see paging in the API for large result sets. Clients are going to find ways around the 500K limit but forming their own queries that fit under the limit, so the 500K limit is not likely defending the API from clients.

    This works today, just tried it with a system assigned managed identity on a VM. Had to assign the identity permissions to the workspace first.

    $AzureInstanceMetadataServiceUrl = 'http://169.254.169.254/metadata/identity/oauth2/token?api-version=2018-02-01';
    $ResourceAppIDUri                = 'https://westus2.api.loganalytics.io'
    $token = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri "$AzureInstanceMetadataServiceUrl&resource=$ResourceAppIDUri" -Headers @{Metadata=$true}

    $logAnalyticsWorkspace = "61173165-ebbb-414c-a24c-2b68788f292a"
    $logAnalyticsBaseURI = "https://westus2.api.loganalytics.io/v1/workspaces"
    $logQuery = "Event | take 50 | distinct EventLog"
    $logQueryBody = @{"query" = $logQuery} | ConvertTo-Json

    $result = invoke-RestMethod -method POST -uri "$($logAnalyticsBaseURI)/$($logAnalyticsWorkspace)/query" -Headers @{Authorization = "Bearer $($token.access_token)"; "Content-Type" = "application/json"} -Body $logQueryBody
    $result.tables.rows

    Never mind, figured it out. There appear to be some properties such as 'Computer' that do not get appended with the type. For example if my uploaded JSON is this:
    { "foo": "bar", "ComputerName": "baz"}
    then the uploaded property name is ComputerName_s

    but if my JSON is this:
    { "foo": "bar", "Computer": "baz"}
    then the uploaded property name is just Computer (no '_s' appended)

    Bummer this doesn't just work, the logs for the SMTP Virtual Server in IIS are right beside the IIS web server logs. Any plan to make this work?

    Lack of identity data in the logs is a security issue, otherwise how do we track storage requests to a user?

    This feature would save us a lot of custom security code in some of our systems.
