    This would be a huge win. It is super annoying to have my Azure sites pause for 2 seconds on first load.

    Amazon has been able to offer count for several years now. I would advise MS to know it's competition. You are selling a product and it fails to measure up. Look at all of the features that Amazon Simple DB offers: http://aws.amazon.com/simpledb/. They support where clauses, count, order by, and multiple indexes.

    I agree -- the current service doesn't even allow a simple Count(*). AWS provides this.

    This would be incredible. But would the server's then require fast GPU cards, and how would this affect heating/energy costs of their datacenters? Might make more sense to run a software emulation version of DirectX to achieve this goal.
