    Hi Phil

    Are you looking for non-recursive or recursive CTEs? Executing recursive CTEs is not easy in a scale out environment. U-SQL provides rowset assignment statements in a script that are equivalent to non-recursive CTEs.

    Eg.

    WITH foo AS (SELECT * FROM T WHERE ... ), bar AS (SELECT * FROM S WHERE ...)
    SELECT * FROM foo JOIN bar ON ...

    Is equivalent to

    @foo = SELECT * FROM T WHERE ...;
    @bar = SELECT * FROM S WHERE ...;
    @result = SELECT * FROM @foo JOIN @bar ON ...;

    If we get enough votes, we may just provide the syntax for the SQL users that know CTEs and translate it.

    Thanks for filing the request. We are looking at adding the IF NOT EXISTS/IF EXISTS options in a future refresh.

    Thanks for filing this request. Please note that we are not allowed to keep account secrets in clear text in the service for compliance and security reasons. Since we manage scripts in the cluster in the user's account's system folder, e.g., so you can download/rerun a job's script, there is a security risk.

    So right now, it is unlikely that we reintroduce the CREATE CREDENTIAL statement or even allow the clear text passwords. Once we support integrated auth though for external data sources, this will become easier again.

    You may want to ask this in the Elastic Search User voice or MSDN Forum.

    Dear Phil, we are working on addressing this scenario with the feature requested here: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/327234-data-lake/suggestions/10550388-support-dynamic-output-file-names-in-adla

    I will leave this request as a general request for scalar (sub) queries for now.

    Dear Martin

    Both this regions are on the roadmap and actively worked on. Current ETAs are not yet public though.

    Hi Dharmesh

    You can find an example JSON extractor at https://github.com/Azure/usql/tree/master/Examples/DataFormats and some sample U-SQL queries using it at
    https://github.com/Azure/usql/tree/master/Examples/JSONExamples.

    If you need a built-in JSON extractor, please look at this request: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/327234-data-lake/suggestions/10828575-support-for-json

    @Martin: Given that only 6 people voted, it unfortunately does not seem to be at a high priority yet.

    @kees: The built-in Extractors should support the UTC datetime format. See https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/mt621366.aspx Please file a bug with us if you feel it does not.
