Having the ability to see the kernel logs/console messages is useful, but without being able to interactively control a VM, this makes things unnecessarily painful when running Linux on Azure. In particular, it means that debugging otherwise trivial startup issues becomes time consuming (per the OP), but it also means that other more advanced use cases are unsupportable. For example, if a user wishes to use full disk encryption and supply the password at boot time using the console, this isn't possible. Really, there's a huge difference between interactive console and simply providing a screenshot. Please don't close this issue.
