I don't understand the need for this feature, i.m.h.o. this would just alleviate a weakness in whatever system or process these accounts are sourced from, which is where the expiration should be managed.

ie; a contractor should be disabled when the contract ends, IF it ends. The contract isn't specified in AzureAD but in an HR system/process. Most tools support an API or integration which connects to AzureAD.

AzureAD already has access review features for groups and accounts, which also integrates with PowerAutomate.

So, I would argue: fix your process or source system, don't put a band-aid on it using AzureAD account expiration.

The Product Group is coming up with the support of managed identity for Automation to be used instead of Runas account with a tentative ETA of CY21 March-End. All our investments would be towards moving customers to use managed identity rather than RunAs.

I'd really appreciate this functionality as well! We're currently doing it this way: https://www.lieben.nu/liebensraum/2019/12/programmatically-creating-an-azure-runas-account-with-your-automation-account/ but i'd much rather have a built in function instead of an external script that requires a username/pwd.

We are aware of the requirement to be able to convert a synced user to cloud only and are designing that feature, but we have no timelines to share right now.
We reverted the change that would block the “hack” to delete and restore a user to change a user to “Cloud Only”.

Please do add this functionality, it is so unlogical and counterintuitive to users to have a seperate MyApps for Azure, Office 365, Intune, devicebased appstore and possibly SCCM.
