Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote which allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog. Since this request came out of an escalation, I’ve engaged the feature owner to take a look and suggest next best step to validate and resolve the reported bug.

Neil thanks for posting - this is now available in VS via the Azure SDK 2.7.1.
I think the way we will address this is similar to the requests here: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/281804-azure-resource-manager/suggestions/35131546-improve-access-to-key-vault-from-arm-templates

Essentially allowing the use of runtime functions to retrieve secrets and remove the need for reference parameters...
If you can think of a reason why that would not work for you, lmk...
