  1. Enable LDAPS Support

Many Active Directory configurations do not allow the use of unsigned LDAP queries, which prevents volumes from being created. Please add support to enable LDAP with StartTLS or LDAPS over port 636.

  2. Encryption status in Azure NetApp Files

In Azure NetApp Files (ANF) FAQ page said "All Azure NetApp Files volumes are encrypted using the FIPS 140-2 standard. All keys are managed by the Azure NetApp Files service." However, in the ANF portal page or CLI/API doesn't show encryption status. Since ANF is an abstraction layer on top of the NetApp filer, would you pass encryption status information from underneath ONTAP?
    Thank you.

  3. Per user quotas in a single volume

User quotas. Customer can use user quotas to limit the amount of disk space or the number of files that a user can use. Quotas provide a way to restrict or track the disk space, and number of files used by a user, group, or qtree. Quotas are applied to a specific volume or qtree. This is an important feature to have for a shared environment, where many engineers have access.

  4. Azure NetApp files does not have Scheduled Snapshots, or Backup and Replication (Snap Mirror) to a secondary region.

Current ANF does not have any backup options other than volume snapshots and no native replication option, would love to see these features, as this a demand from clients moving from traditional file servers in the cloud to ANF.

  5. Edit for SMB server name Prefix in AD connector

customer Christian, has requested to change the SMB server prefix name , which cannot be currently editable directly now

As of now the only way to change the SMB prefix of the computer object, is to delete the SMB volumes first , delete the AD connector and then recreate a new AD connector with desired name and then add new volumes

SO we do not have a edit option to change the prefix without deleting volumes and AD connector, so it would be very helpful if have the option to edit the prefix name.

  6. Ability to use additional Subnets in the same Netapp Account

It isnt possible to define additonal subnets in the Netapp Account. this should be possible. For security reasons and organisational factors it is often necessary for subnets to be aligned.

It appears possible to do this in the console but it creates an error on deployment:

"Subnet must have a single 'Microsoft.NetApp/volumes' delegation."

  7. Ability to create new Active Directory computer Objects

We have specific cases where we need to have distinct new computer objects and IP's for file shares. My feeling is that you should be able to define this when creating a volume or it should at least be possible to do with a deployment script.
My understanding is that this happens currently on a automated maybe this time basis.

  8. Multi tiering capability to extend to include Blob storage

Better cost optimization for ultra low tier data, blob integration will be extremely important, and is being sought after by multiple customers in HPC domain. The real solution is to make this policy driven "auto-tiering", but would be good to at least get the integration available as the first phase.

  9. Convert the file system type from NFSv3 to NFSv4 or NFSv4.1

We have volumes that are in use and have production data running using NFSv3 and you would like to convert these to NFSv4. At this time there's no capability in the Azure net app files product to perform this change.

  10. Support Zone-Redundant Virtual Network Gateway to Connect to Azure NetApp Files from on-premise.

Support Zone-Redundant Virtual Network Gateway to Connect to Azure NetApp Files from on-premise. At the moment, we cannot use the site-to-site connections built using zone-redundant VNG to mount the NetApp volume from on-premise.

  11. Ability to Join Muliple domains in the same Azure subscription

It should be possbile to join multiple Active directories in the same subscription.
Most modern enterprises now have mutli domain and forest issues and would not expect to have to manage across mutiple subscriptions and therefore with duplicate capacity pools.
