Azure Reservations

  1. Add additional locations in Latin America

We do a fair bit of business in Latin America, mostly in Panama, Argentina, Peru and Chile. Unfortunately the only Azure instance in the region is in Brazil which we can't use. Can we get another instance in one of these other countries, preferably Peru or Chile? Thanks!

  2. Issues with Azure Pricing Calculator

I want to compare price of AWS instance + EBS to the equivalent on Azure. This Instance page (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-machines/#Linux) refers to DS instances. Those don't show up in the calculator. There is no page I can find on DS instances. I also am trying to figure out how to add basic vs premium (SSD) storage to the calculator.

  3. CREST API, standardize unit of measure please!

    Hi,
I'm working through the MSDN documentation (bad) located here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/partnercenter/mt427350.aspx

I pulled the list of all Azure metered items from the API. I'm now looking at how to pull this into our financial system. I did a quick query to see how to bring in the units of measure, the “unit” field returned seems to be inconsistent and not well understood.

In the dataset I get from your API you return units that ranges from “1M Queries” and “1,000,000s” [seconds? Nope, transactions] and “1,000s” or “1000s”? This seems a little messy and not managed. Building an API into this…

  4. Provide means to create, maintain and duplicate application environments consisting of different Azure components

Currently it is cumbersome to deploy multiple instances of the same application (called environments in rest of document) in Microsoft Azure and to maintain the configurations of these different instances.

The application has one web and one worker role, one database, and two storage accounts (one for ap data and one for diagnostics data).

The identical and complete application is deployed in several environments to allow for development testing, integration testing, acceptance testing, and performance testing. One of environments is called the production environment which is the actual released application used by the end users.

    We are experiencing two problems…

  5. Support should be included for free for "break-fix" issues

I pay several hundred dollars a month for hosting on Azure. I would expect to be able to file a support ticket when, for instance, the hosting interface (Azure Portal) has bugs and doesn't work as advertised. Overall, a great service that has worked extraordinarily well for me...but I believe that "break-fix" issues as they are described in the FAQ should be addressed without additional paid support. I was attempting to bind SSL certificates in the Preview Portal - it just flat out wouldn't work. Luckily, I was able to perform the action in the "old" portal. I realize that…

  6. create D0 and D0.5 optimised compute pricing steping stones

We have a lot of users signing up to our service daily and are struggling with processes that can time-out on the A0 or A1 cloud services on azure due to the CPU performance.

We only need 768mb of ram so going to an A1 actually is not that cost efficient for us, and certainty an A2 is definitely not effective - basically we need to scale out to many small, but fast instances.

The D1 series CPU's are 60% faster but also have SSD plus more disk and ram than we nee, and (I assume) aren't core shared. These…

  7. Don't drop existing TCP connections when scaling cloud service up/down for instances not involved with the scaling operation.

I have a runnning instance in a cloud service accepting long term TCP connections. When the service scales UP, all existing connections are dropped for the existing instances. Also, connections are dropped at an early stage, when the new machine is still booting. Result: all clients reconnect to the already existing machines, and the traffic is not distributed to the new instance.
    Suggested sequence:
    1. Start the new instance
    2. When the new instance is ready to accept traffic add this instance to the list of eligible instances for receiving new connections..

  8. Add the xtra small standard website instance, and make the pricing very aggressive

Currently, Standard Websites are only available as Small, Medium, and Large VM instances. For a company just starting out, the free plan isn't going to be used, for fear one would hit the limit and have interruptions of service.
The Small plan, at approximately $75/month, is a bit pricey, but is necessary to get out of the problems that shared websites can have.
An extra small instance could fill a gap there, allowing one to get out of shared plans, but at the same time, fitting nicely in the business plan before upgrading to a small instance.

    -thanks

  9. Align reservations and Meter

Microsoft distinquished various product families for reservations. However, in the reporting and dashboards product families are mixed, which makes it hard to define reservation volumes.
As an example: You can buy D_v2 and DSv2 reservations. In the billing file and the cost analysis dashboard you see only D*v2/DS_v2 items. Even the MeterID and the Partnumber are equal for Dv2 and DS*v2 (as is the unit cost). So, why distinquish between products and reservations and group everything together in the reporting and dashboarding. Appreciate a straight approach here, to be able to manage reservation volumes.

  10. Add more reservation options to help decrease the cost of long term services.

Add more reservation options to help decrease the cost of long term services.

Its impressive the price difference between a Windows and Linux VM with 3 year commitment.

Services like storage (specially backup) are excellent candidates for reservations.

Please consider to add Reservations for:
Windows OS Licences (On Azure VMs)
    Storage (Backups, storage accounts, etc).
    Bandwith.

  12. Conditional Access control for Azure AD PowerShell, which calls Microsoft Graph.

Has consideration been given to the possibility of enabling conditional access control for Azure AD PowerShell, which calls Microsoft Graph? This would enable organizations to be able to control who can use AzureAD powershell to query their Azure AD instance.

    Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/conditional-access-azure-management

  13. Support a function to check in which Availability Zone a resource has been deployed.

In some cases, users might want to know which availability zone their Azure resources have deployed.

For instance, zonal services can be used to "lock" resources within an Availability Zone in order to accelerate communications as much as possible, but once deployed, a user has no way to check which zone he/she deployed, thus he/she needs to keep the information at the time of deployment.

A function to see Availability Zone via PowerShell, REST API, or Azure Portal may help users very well.

  16. Collect modifications to Azure reservations (options/scope updates) in activity logs and display them in portal, as well as API capability

Collect modifications to Azure reservations (options updates, scope change, cancelling/refund, ...) in activity logs and display them in portal, as well as API capability to retrieve such changes. This can help audit reservations, and establish better governance.

Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote which allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  17. Buy Azure Reservation with subscription "owner" privilege assigned with AAD group and Management Group

Right now Azure reservation can be bought using the EA Account admin or user assigned as "Owner" directly in access control(IAM). But user assigned as "Owner" through AAD or through Management Groups scope are not able to buy the reservations.

  19. Reserved Instances Expired Notification

Reserved Instances Expiry notification sent to the customers doesn't include Azure Subscription ID which causes lots of confusion with customers to identify which subscription has been hosting the compute that is about to expire. - This scenario is applicable to customers using many subscriptions, such as, one of my customer is using 100+ azure subscriptions.

Could you please add Azure Subscrption ID as part of the RI Expired notification email that you send to the customer enterprise admin?

    Thanks

  20. Reservation renewal at renewal option should be defaulted to Auto renew rather than currently we have to get into each one of them

we have to get to each one and review one by one a current. would be useful to have the default as auto renewal.
