Include Cost Savings in the Advisor Recommendations
It would be great if the Advisor recommendations included options for cost savings instead of typically only suggesting ways to spend more money.
We had an excellent recent example: after digging into an unusually high quarterly invoice, we finally realized that we had unintentionally added a rule to scale out our primary App Service when CPU % was high. It ended up scaling out to 4 instances and we continued to be billed for the next 5 months until we realized what was happening. We realize this was our mistake, but it would have been nice if the Advisor would have pointed out that an App Service was 4x over-provisioned for months on end.
Thanks for the feedback. While we do have some cost savings recommendations in the Cost category in Advisor already, this is a great idea for a new recommendation. Are there any other specific cost savings recommendations you’re looking for in addition to App Service?

Thanks, Andy, this is helpful. We'll look into these additional cost recommendations. Others, feel free to chime in with thoughts.

I would say an easy thing to build into the Advisor would be to look for any service that has a scale out rule built for it without an associated scale in rule.
Another service where the cost implications weren't clear to us up front is the Service Bus and associated Relay Agents and Listeners. We found that we had provisioned many more instances than our need warranted. Reducing/consolidating the number of relay agents and listeners also resulted in large cost savings.

Yes please, this feature would be great. Optimizing our resource plans to the exact needs of our organization is a challenging issue and some tools to help us would be nice!

Agreed. It is too often a misconfiguration that ends up costing a customer more money is rarely, if ever, flagged for them to know what's going on. There's a lot to digest in Azure and I have yet to see a recommendation that saves money on an existing service.

I've been looking for way to increase efficiency and lower costs of a very convoluted azure environment ( many subscriptions, tons of webapps, and a lot of devs with contributor rights)
With that in mind a tool such as Azure advisor that can advice on (in) effiicancies in our enviorment , would be pefect.
I know there are 3rd party tools that to a lot of the same but it would be amazing to have one that is backed into Azure.
Thanks in advance!
