Allow for a Managed Instance to have a public endpoint
It'd be great if this could happen. The idea of integrating an MI with other Azure services via additional virtual machines using on-prem data gateways and self-hosted integration runtimes is not ideal.
Thank you for this feedback.
We are working on enabling configurable public endpoint for SQL MI. This should be deployed in 2-3 months.
In Azure Advisors Yammer Group was posted, there will be a public preview around mid of April
Looking forward to it
Any updates on this please.
Yes I agree!
I was looking for same feature for my client website https://frugalfinds4frugalminds.com/safeway-monopoly-game/
Hope It would implement soon
I have had contact with someone from the team who is developing this feature. He has told me:
"[...] work on public endpoint is well in progress (we’re in intensive testing phase now)
Our expectation is that public preview with production support will be available in March
If you are interested in early evaluation, it is available now in private preview
The only caveat is that during private preview instance can have either public or private endpoint configured. In public preview, both endpoints can co-exist. [...]"

Would love to see this implemented. The current methods for connecting externally are far from ideal.

Any updates on this?
We could REALLY use an update on this as we will be forced to use an alternative if this isn't available soon
Last update from the beginning of Octoberber 2018 was that this was 2-3 mo. Away. Is that timeline still on track can we expect this later this month ?

Thank you for the feedback! Will this feature be in preview first or will it be part of a bigger update roll up?
