  2. RS-485 and LAN tcp/ip samples

The concept of Azure sphere is great and we are trying to use as it is intended in our use case scenarios.

However, wireless is not always the the best or preferred communication in lot of scenarios - e.g. access control readers

It will be great if Azure Sphere samples are extended to include RS-485 and LAN connectivity

  3. Manifest AllowedConnections limitation

Currently, for Sphere to connect to any IP or URL, the IP or URL has to be whitelisted in the "AllowedConnections" section in app_manifest.json file which will be build into binary image. I understand this is due to security concern, but this is not practical for large scale deployment.

In a lot of scenarios, we need one binary for a lot of Sphere devices which may need to connect to different devices/servers which may have different IP/URL configuration.

e.g. In one of our scenario, we need Sphere to connect to electric device using modbus TCP, each electric device may have…

  4. Add a "mini OPC/UA" Server

A "mini OPC/UA" server should help identifying what kind of information the device can provide and configure (from remote) what information will be transferred in which frequency. This enables i.e. that a base set of information is set permanently and in case of a problem additional data can be requested and/or the data can be sent more frequently

  5. Share Data Between Applications on A7

It is suggested that two high-level applications (A7) can run simultaneously, which means each application can communicate with the other.

  7. Details of registers for MT3620

It's necessary to provide the details of the MT3620 to the community, espcially the details of registers. I understand the application dev for the M4 core is still under preview. However, if we provide the detals, then the developers can do more.

  8. Allow independent control of the chip select line in the SPI bus

Allow independent control of the chip select line on a SPI bus. Some devices such as SD cards have special behavior and need the CS line to be high or low independently of whether some data is being exchanged. As of now it is possible to use an additional pin leaving the "standard" CS disconnected but in my opinion it is quite a waste.

  13. Provide more verbose OTA status logs

I faced network related issue which was blocking OTA update and app deployment to my device, however device did not provide any sort of information or log indicating, that there is communication issue which doesn't allow OTA process to happen. When asking for ota status, device should inform administrator about issue which prevents OTA process to go thru.

  16. Azure Sphere... ways to be notified other than RSS

Please provide notifications through other channels. For development purposes, email or txt is perfect. For production, doesn't Azure have an incident management service? Working in Azure, we'll need notifications to go through internal tools.

  20. GPIO_SetValue returns success when setting a GPIO configured as input

GPIO_SetValue returns success when setting a GPIO configured as input, It should be permissible to read the state of an Output GPIO but there is no valid reason to set the state of a GPIO configured for input.
