Fix OneDrive Files On-Demand Bug
For more than a year, several users have reported issues when Files On-Demand option is enabled for OneDrive even though the OneDrive folder is excluded from backups ( https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d612c19a-0f18-431a-9d75-9fb5dfd11aca/windows-10-1803-client-backups-failing-media-write-protected-errors?forum=dataprotectionmanager ).
In our case, three scenarios are possible when the option is activated and the OneDrive folder is excluded:
- on some computers, synchronization works properly
- on other computers the synchronization fails randomly
- on other computers, synchronization is impossible
Two months ago, we opened a ticket, but Microsoft still has not released a patch.
If Microsoft does not have enough human resources to update DPM, it should consider publishing some or all of the DPM source code on GitHub (under open source license) so the open source community can help Microsoft.
With Windows 10 - 1903 release this issue is fixed. Upgrade to Windows 10 version 1903 or latest to resolve this issue.
