  1. Azure Monitor Dashboard: Lack of documentation for Log Analytics

Log Analytics query results in a chart, the chart is pinned to the dashboard, the chart should be able to re-render by changing the parameters/queries, there is no search documentation available to do this.

Changing a dashboard, user has to select "save a copy" even to save to the current version. Also, there are no out-of-the-box AKS instances and no documentation to pin the AKS insights to dashboard.

Thanks for your feedback and its now open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature/documentation backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  2. Azure Monitor Metrics: Chart Multiple Public DNS Zones

Before multiple resources can be charted, I am given instructions to "filter your view to one location."

This is impossible with Public DNS Zones because all zone locations are set to global. Selecting any location filters out all zone resources.

Use Case: Calculating query costs across all zones within an entire resource group, which is tied to a specific contract.

  3. Add image as log. So applications with images or video can log images and use log analytics for classification and predicting.

Currently more and more applications are using images and videos like security aplocations. If this application can log images as part of application log which can be used in log analytics.

  4. Azure Monitor metrics are different on non-AKS clusters

Azure Monitor does not report on %CPU and %Memory metrics for non-AKS (GCP) clusters.

  5. Update Management from Azure Monitor

Much like with having a single pane glass of view for Azure Monitor Alerts, Log Analytics Workspaces, Virtual Machines etc... it would also be great to have a central Update Management view that spanes multiple Update Management solutions and Automation Accounts

  8. Use content checksum for signatures in HTTP Data Collector API

The HTTP data collector API uses the Content-Length as part of the string-to-sign for clients POSTING data to Azure Monitor. From a security perspective, wouldn't it be better if were to use a computed checksum on the content?

    Thanks,
    Vijay

  9. Event or Log for each time user logins to AzurePortal.

Customer want to be notified each time when anyone redirects to their subscription, there should be option to configure such alerts.

  10. Add feature, to allow suppress of EVENTs based on number of Occurences

Add feature, to allow suppress of EVENTs based on number of Occurences.
Useful for isntance, when NW or subnet goes down, and there are X number of ping issues, or HealtCheck that normally creates tickets, without this kind of suppress it would create lets say 100s of alarms but with that suppress logic it would suppress the (100 alarms of not pingable or healthckeck issue) to create only ONE alarm that possible NW outage. or Global Healtcheck issue - saving troubleticket tools from processing large quantities of tickets that have same root cause.

  11. retiring custom metrics without a sufficient replacement is having a wide impact on customers

I know we're pulling classic metrics aug 31 (latest date). ny replacement for this requires the use of custom metrics, which isn't supported in very many regions (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/platform/metrics-custom-overview#supported-regions).
As an SE, I've had to tell people they are just out of luck until MS supports customer metrics in more regions.

We are negatively impacting customers by pulling the plug on this items before having a comparable replacement. If I'm mistaken, please let me know the alternative.

  12. Improve pricing option UI

It is strange that the three OMS options are available for selection when creating a new workspace with no explanation. There should be some kind of verification step or at the very least a clear explanation that those options are typically not available for new workspaces. Having 3 out of 4 options be effectively unavailable to new customers is inviting confusion.

  13. targerResourceType support for VM only but not any other providers

When targetResourceType is set to App Service Plan scopes and I got the following error.
    {"Code":"BadRequest","Message":"For the resource type Microsoft.Web/serverfarms, selecting only one resource is supported."}

There is no way to deploy any other provider metric monitoring at Resource Group Level or Subscription using ARM template, Azure Cli and Powershell such as Database, App service plan, App Gateway ..basically except VM.

If we need to apply App Service Plan CPU and Memory metrics for 10 App Service Plans, it means that we need to write individual 10 ASP x 2 metrics alerts. Total individual metric alerts will be 20 such…

  14. Add time parameters to Alerts

We have a number of alerts (a large number actually) to monitor the % of cpu usage. This gives us an indication if something is going wrong or if a server is undersized. Also, we run batch jobs late at night/early morning. So high cpu usage is expected during our batch job runs.

The trouble is the batch jobs create a lot of useless alerts since this it is expected that they will use a lot of cpu.

My request would be able to set up time-base parameters for alerts. For example, I'd like an alert that is effective between…

  15. Add the ability to run webhook repeatedly if alert conditions are sustained

Right now there is no option to force the resolve of Alert monitoring status.

This is odd specially because we are forced to use alerts for vertical autoscale.

So if you want to have multi-steps autoscale, you have to configure several alerts, with different times/tresholds, because there is no way to set an alert to resolved.

For example you need to downscale a VM, you set an alert to trigger the webhook when the CPU is 30% or less for 15 minutes, the alert triggers, the downscale is made, but just 1 time. Because the alert is never set to…

  16. Document Azure Monitor security model

There does not seem to be a good reference as to the security model for Azure monitoring at the moment I am making assumptions which is not great when designing an architecture.

Presumably there is only a level of data in the alert (ie not contextual in terms of IP addresses, database names, contains data from system etc?).

In terms of the above if not where is data stored (presumably it is shared and not dedicated to a subscription), who has access to this data.

These are questions we will be asked in terms of compliance, i cant see anything…
