Azure Monitor

Azure Monitor Action Groups enable you to configure how to receive notifications when an Azure Monitor Alert is triggered.

  1. setup individual disk drive low free space alert on subscription level

The existing Metrics function only can trigger alert when overall disk drive space is low, but cannot monitoring and trigger alert when disk space running out when occurred in single drive space.

Classic alert can do the individual drive monitoring but needed to re-config & setup it "per drive" on each machine repeatedly & hard to manage, it cannot do that by subscription or resource group level for bulk management.

So would like to have this missing function "drive level free space monitoring" on Metrics.

  2. Do not display a value until the correct value can be shown

The Metrics for the App Service Plan is plotting out the graph as zero even though it later updates to correct value. This should be fixed so that NO VALUE is plotted until the actual correct value can be plotted.

Why plot an incorrect value? Very confusing, especially for new users of Azure.

No value is MUCH better than an INCORRECT value.

We had a support case for this, and the response was that MS wants to plot out values as soon as possible eve though they are partial, which is great, but to show incorrect values is a VERY…

  3. Can we please have the database size shown on azure dashboard?

Can the database sizes be displayed on the DTU percentage graphs on Azure dashboards, as it will be very helpful to our monitoring? like the attached picture. Thanks.

  4. Dry run autoscaling to monitor its behaviour without actually scaling

Feature: An option to dry run AutoScaling.

Why: Using custom metrics we need to validate that its behaviour concurs with what we expect, to a dry run feature in which everything is done except the actual autoscaling part.

  5. Decimal values for alert thresholds

Currently the alerts configured in application insights allows to only provide thresholds as an integer. It does not allow values like 99.5 for example. Is this possible and I am not aware or its not allowed by AI today.

  6. The MMA agent when updated, should honor the settings already setup.

When you build a new server in azure, it will automatically come with the MMA agent extension. If you have a post installation script that is run when you build your servers that sets up a connection to lets say SCOM 2016 or 2019. The MMA extension will install the latest version of that agent and completely wipe out the settings you've already set on the agents. This should never happen.

This is extremely frustrating when you've setup the agent to disable the APM flag, which AFAIK has still not been fixed for all versions of .NET, having this flag…

  7. Documentation for Azure Monitor SDK - Fetch Custom Metrics

There doesn't appear to be any guidance for how to gather custom metrics from monitoring.azure.com endpoints or if this is even supported.

  8. Pass parameter values to Azure Monitor Workbook from outside

I have a workbook that has some parameters defined. Looks like the default values of the parameters are set when creating the workbook. Can I change the default parameter values programatically, or by some other means before sharing the workbook with others?

  9. update programmatically workbook(arm template)

    Hi guys, i

now I have to work around to cleanup that specific workbook first and then deploy it again. Very helpful function would be the ability to update the workbook even if it exist.

    Reference: recent issue raised https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs/issues/52844

  10. Add usage metrics for Network In/Out Total

I would like to implement alert system when VM usage approaches to certain amount of network bandwidth, so I would request to add Network In/Out Total metrics I can see on VM menu.

  11. setup individual free disk space for all computers in log analytics workspace

The existing metrics function only can monitor average counterValue for all computers but not for each computer, see attached file for metrics result.
Per many customers request, they need use metrics to monitor individual free space value for all computers. that is, we need get counterValue for each computer in metrics separately when we choose all computers.

  12. I want existing memory monitoring classic alert rules to be migrated with the migration tool.

As described in the following public information, existing memory monitoring classic alert rules are not currently migrated from classic alerts and are supported by Log Analytics.

Classic alert rules that will not be migrated
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/platform/alerts-understand-migration#classic-alert-rules-that-will-not-be-migrated

I originally heard it as automatic migration, so I would like the existing memory monitoring classic alert rules to be subject to automatic migration, or at least implemented as a migration target in the migration tool.

  14. Use content checksum for signatures in HTTP Data Collector API

The HTTP data collector API uses the Content-Length as part of the string-to-sign for clients POSTING data to Azure Monitor. From a security perspective, wouldn't it be better if were to use a computed checksum on the content?

    Thanks,
    Vijay

  15. Add feature, to allow suppress of EVENTs based on number of Occurences

Add feature, to allow suppress of EVENTs based on number of Occurences.
Useful for isntance, when NW or subnet goes down, and there are X number of ping issues, or HealtCheck that normally creates tickets, without this kind of suppress it would create lets say 100s of alarms but with that suppress logic it would suppress the (100 alarms of not pingable or healthckeck issue) to create only ONE alarm that possible NW outage. or Global Healtcheck issue - saving troubleticket tools from processing large quantities of tickets that have same root cause.

  16. Add the ability to run webhook repeatedly if alert conditions are sustained

Right now there is no option to force the resolve of Alert monitoring status.

This is odd specially because we are forced to use alerts for vertical autoscale.

So if you want to have multi-steps autoscale, you have to configure several alerts, with different times/tresholds, because there is no way to set an alert to resolved.

For example you need to downscale a VM, you set an alert to trigger the webhook when the CPU is 30% or less for 15 minutes, the alert triggers, the downscale is made, but just 1 time. Because the alert is never set to…

  17. Bugs on Function app page on azure portal

Correct the bugs on the function app page on Azure portal that make it impossible to use.

Half of the time the page gets stucks on loading the Monitor / Manage / Integrate page for a function.
