Azure Event Grid

Azure Event Grid is a fully-managed intelligent event routing service that allows for uniform event consumption using a publish-subscribe model. Use Azure Event Grid to react to relevant events across both Azure and non-Azure services in near-real time fashion.

How can we improve Azure Event Grid?

  1. Support file (share) storage events

    In addition to blob creation and deletion, please add file (share) storage support.

  2. Check for null/not null in Event Grid Advanced Filters

    Add advanced filter options to Event Grid subscriptions to allow filtering on whether a specific data node exists (or does not exist) or does/does not contain a `null` value

  3. Deplying Event Grid Domains via ARM template

    2 weeks ago Event Grid Domains came out of preview, but there doesn't seem to be a way to deploy these via an ARM template.

    Or are ARM templates no longer the preferred way of deploying resources from Azure DevOps?

  4. Allow KeyVault to emit events using Event Grid when secret, certificate or permission changes

    Allow KeyVault to emit events using Event Grid when secret, certificate or permission changes. That will help customers react to KeyVault events like a secret value or content type changed or a secret is enabled or disabled or a permission on KeyVault changed etc

  5. Bug/Feature: Support DateTimeOffset instead converting to UTC

    When passing a DateTime(Offset), EventGrid takes the liberty of converting it to a UTC DateTime, which is really not acceptable. I assume this happens when EventGrid deserializes the data, but it should really not change the content of the data property in any way. So, could you please add an option on a topic to configure this behaviour?

    An example payload would be:

    {
    "cloudEventsVersion": "0.1",
    "eventType": "SomeType",
    "eventTypeVersion": "1",
    "source": "#something",
    "eventID": "173d9985-401e-0075-2497-de268c06ff25",
    "eventTime": "2018-04-28T02:18:47.1281675Z",
    "data": {
    "DateInUtc": "2018-04-28T02:18:47.1281675Z",
    "DateWithOffset": "2018-04-28T02:18:47.1281675+03:00"
    }
    }

    This then results in (see the changed value of ‘DateWithOffset’):
    {
    "cloudEventsVersion": "0.1",
    "eventType": "SomeType",
    "eventTypeVersion":…

  6. Support for Kafka publisher and subscriber to use EventGrid

    It will be great if EventGrid supported Kafka event publisher and subscriber, ie.. support for Kafka protocol similar to what was done with Azure Event Hub.

  7. Integration to Azure Service Bus - standard tier

    Currently we have an Azure Service Bus integration only for premium tier such as a production recommended tier ($668/month).

    Can we have also integration to the Standard tier ($10/month)? It will be reduced a cost for development and small businesses.

    Thanks

  8. Static public IP address

    I wish it had a static IP address or IP range which can be allowed on firewall for communication with resources within a VNet or atleast a VNet service endpoint.
    How are we supposed to allow Event grid talk to API sitting inside a Vnet without disabling the firewall?

  9. Allow Access Key Import For Event Grid

    Automatic failover for a down Event Grid is pivotal for an enterprise application that is geo-redundant. Currently, Event Grid does not allow access key import across different installations and therefore the consumer of an Event Grid must build logic to failover and change the access key they are using. Service bus currently has access key import functionality that should be duplicated to the Event Grid product.

  10. Allow Webhooks to be delivered into VNETS

    Currently Webhook events can only be delivered to public IPs.

    For security reasons, we have a situation where we liked to be Webhook events to be delivered to VMs, Kubernetes Clusters etc. inside a VNET.

    As the target VNET can only be configured with permissions to this VNET, this would also ease the for requirements on authentication on both sides (for which there are other improvement suggestions).

  11. Add support for AAD authentication

    Add support for AAD authentication and managed identities alternatively to shared secrets access...like ServiceBus is doing already...

  13. Error implementing "Stream big data into a data warehouse"

    Hello,
    I have followed the docu. of Tutorial: Stream big data into a data warehouse (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/event-grid/event-grid-event-hubs-integration#).
    I am using Azure Bash instead of PS as it was giving several errors. I successfully deployed everything using Azure Bash. But when I publish code of github project mentioned in this tutorial I am getting this error:

    2019-05-29T20:33:02.063 [Error] Error processing request. Exception: Newtonsoft.Json.JsonSerializationException: Cannot deserialize the current JSON array (e.g. [1,2,3]) into type 'FunctionEGDWDumper.WindTurbineMeasure' because the type requires a JSON object (e.g. {"name":"value"}) to deserialize correctly. To fix this error either change the JSON to a JSON object (e.g. {"name":"value"})…

  14. Allow sending event for all topics in a domain

    As an event grid source, I want to publish an event that applies to all tenants of the domain-where each tenant is a topic, so that all topics (tenants) receive the same event and each tenant can manage subscriptions to their topic independent of each other.

  15. Ability to only accept events being published from whitelisted IP addresses

    Would be great to limit the IP ranges from which the topic endpoint would accept events. Currently a topic endpoint is open to the public internet with no way of securing it further beyond using Key or SAS token authentication.

  16. Ability to disable key authentication

    SAS tokens are the preferred authentication method over just Key authentication. Would be good to be able to disable Key authentication and force a topic (or Event Grid) to only accept SAS Token.

  17. Support to event the create log file of $logs container by Event Grid.

    I thought it would be nice if I could analyze the Storage Diagnostic log generated in $logs container with the Log Analytics workspace.
    I thought to trigger an Azure Function that sends event log files to the Log Analytics workspace by catching an event that generates log file in $logs container with Event Grid.
    However, Event Grid could not be implemented because it does not have a structure to catch the event.

    After all, I chose to use the Timer Trigger, but since it has a large time lag compared to the Event Grid, it does not seem to be…

  18. Validating a custom topic and event domain endpoints for subscription webhook event handler

    This feature will simplify cascading of the Azure Event Grids for multi-tenants across the different AD accounts.
    Currently, we can subscribe an Azure Event Grid via the custom topic to the event subscription, but we need to add an EventGridTrigger function for validatingUrl.

    See more details about the AEG cascading in the example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/55342241/handle-blob-events-from-storage-accounts-in-multiple-azure-subscriptions-in-diff

  19. Signing requests and verifying signature on response

    We are exploring using Domain Events in a multi tenant financial environment to allow our customers to get notifications around transaction status changes. However, our webhooks need to be signed and the response from the customer must also be signed with a digital signature. Unfortunately Event Grid only requires a 200 response in order to consider a webhook successful whereas we would also require the response to be signed with the correct signature. It would be nice if we could add custom rules/policies that have to be fulfilled for the response to be deemed successful.
    Perhaps introduce request/response policies similar…

  20. Event Grid Support For Changing Blob Container Access Level

    It would be useful for Security Governance purposes if an event was raised whenever a Blob Container access level was changed. It appears that right now, this event is not published by the blob storage event source. Even resource group/subscription event sources do not seem to publish blob container access level changes as Resource Write events, and changing a blob container access level does not appear in the storage account's Activity Log.
