  1. React component

Please provide Azure Maps as React components. This would be useful for projects that already use Office UI Fabric React but also for many other developers that use React in their projects.

  2. Improvement of map data for Japan

Map data for Japan in Azure Maps is not practical. Currently, we are mainly using Azure products, it can be used in the same framework as AAD, so I would like to use Azuer Maps if possible. In particular, it is desirable, such as information about the railway is rich.

  3. Render static map with satellite view using coordinates

Unfortunately Azure maps does not have an easy solution to render a map image with a satellite view. All we need is to have the satellite tiles as an option for the map layer to draw our pins and shapes onto as a static image, without using a complex library to make all the calculations to stitch together satellite tiles and rasterize it in the back-end. Then we can cache and provide that image in static resources (email, for example).

Google maps already has this ability, and it would be a shame if we have to replace our azure maps…

  4. Add consistent way to get city name from structured address data

When using the freeform search endpoint, address results will have structured fields along with the 'freeformAddress'.

Most parts of the mailing address can be read from existing fields (streetNumber, streetName, countrySubdivision, postalCode) however the city does not seem to be represented consistently.

In some cases the city from the freeform address is the municipalitySubdivision, in others its the countryTertiarySubdivision. As a result, to extract structured address data to use for mailing addresses we have had to resort to parsing the freeformAddress to get the city name from there as it seems to always match the intended mailing address.

    I would…

  6. Direct Data Import from CosmosDB

I think it would be great if you could connect the maps directly to the CosmosDB. So in the call of the map the DB and Collection is deposited, as well as the Query, which then supplies lengths and latitudes, or polygons etc. and this will then be displayed directly on the map.

  7. Include State filter in the Search API

By setting the countrySet parameter, we can get the results for only that country but it would be good if we could have extra parameters to filter the results based on States and Cities. Agree that we have few other parameters to filter out the results but having State and City parameters would be user friendly.

E.g. 1: If countrySet is set to US and stateSet is set to TN, only addresses from Tennessee State are returned
E.g. 2: If countrySet is set to US, stateSet is set to TN and citySet is set to Nashville, only addresses from Nashville…

  9. Improve Geocoding Results for addresses with 5+4 digits ZCTA

Geocoder is giving results in incorrect score order for some addresses with 5+4 digits ZCTA...

    Go to https://azuremapscodesamples.azurewebsites.net/REST%20Services/Search%20Autosuggest%20and%20JQuery%20UI.html

Search for "1833 S CHURCH ST, BURLINGTON, NC, 27215-5553", first result is Street, and the second one is the correct one. Searching for "1833 S CHURCH ST, BURLINGTON, NC, 27215" gives the correct one.

Just a sample of other examples where it happens:
    - "5198 VALLEYDALE RD, BIRMINGHAM, AL, 35242-3756" vs "5198 VALLEYDALE RD, BIRMINGHAM, AL, 35242"
    - "7510 THOMAS DR, PANAMA CITY, FL, 32408-8529" vs "7510 THOMAS DR, PANAMA CITY, FL, 32408"
    - "4915 HIGHWAY 433 W, BENTONIA, MS, 39040-8417" vs…

  10. Ability to get POI information using it's ID and the desired Language

When building multilingual apps, we need to retrieve the POI name in a specific language using its id.

For example, in a social app. I check into a resturant. I found the POI using fuzzy search and language was specified to be EN.

A friend, who is checking my location, is using my app with a Arabic interface. I will need to call Azure Maps again to get the name in Arabic. I have the ID of the place form the first check in. it would be easier to use that ID to get the value.

    The only current solution…

  11. Standard Parsing required for Street Address

As of now, only Street Address Elements, StreetName and StreetNumber are returned from Search API. In most of the places, only parsed elements are used/saved internally. For e.g. if 123 N MAIN ST, NASHVILLE is entered, 123 is saved as Street Number, N as Direction Prefix, MAIN as Street Name, ST as Street Type etc. May be Search API can also be extended to return the additional street Elements like Street Pre-Type, Street Directional Prefix, Street Directional Suffix, Street Type, etc. But, it would be good if there is a standard Parser function exposed similar to existing Search API methods…

  12. IP Geolocation: Support for local IPs, TOR exit nodes, proxies, data center IPs

When I send a request with my local IP (127.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.123) I get a response without a country code. It would be great if you could extend the model and include additional properties about that IP. In addition it would be great to know if the IP is used as a TOR exit node, or a known proxy server or a datacenter IP (AWS, Azure etc).

  13. Add state and ZIP to IP geolocation results

The new IP Geolocation API is great. Previously we have tested other products.
I would like the API to return ZIP codes and states as well. Some other competing products do that - I am aware of the inaccuracy, but in this case inaccuracy is better than nothing.

  14. Add geocoding address point coverage for Sweden

Sweden is one of the few countries in Europe where the geocoding coverage does not include address points, according to the coverage documentation.

This is a deal breaker when migrating from the soon to be deprecated Bing Maps Api on Azure Marketplace.

  15. Pricing is beyond bad

I've said this before, and my idea was rejected because it was considered "an edge case". It seems though that the reviewers didn't bother to read my entire post.

In my old post (https://feedback.azure.com/forums/909172-azure-maps/suggestions/36265189-pricing-is-really-bad), I gave an example of how the service becomes ridiculously more expensive just by changing one variable (QPS). However, the reviewer focused only on that example and didn't bother about the rest.

Now, here I am again facing the same problem, now with satellite images.
We need to use satellite images in one of our maps. However, just because of that, our cost increases…

  16. Adding a clearer style for map tiles over satellite tiles

Azure Map's label or hybrid layer are not thought to look legible over satellite tiles. Since the text color is black with white borders (and white roads with black borders) it looks painfully awful to use.

Attached is a simple Azure vs Mapbox comparison.

  17. Integrate Microsoft Flow

I want to run our Microsoft Flow at selected location point.

Currently, Microsoft Flow's Mobile Button can run the flow with location information.
I want to do same from Azure Maps by select a location point.

  18. Azure Maps Creator - JSON Manifest Generator/Automation

Azure Maps Creator has a set of DWG drawing requirements in order to convert DWG files into geoJSON datasets. However, there does not appear to be any supporting tool to help developers create the required JSON manifest that goes with the DWG files. A low/no code service for this would help business partners get started. Also, a Power Automate Flow or Azure Logic App Template would help automate the process for developers when processing many buildings at scale.

  19. Power BI add choropleth (data-driven shapes)

There are already many Power BI visuals available to plot points on a map, and I find that is actually a less common requirement in the real world. What interests me and my clients more is showing choropleths - data-driven shape layers where we can load custom shapes and set their colors etc driven by data.

I've built many of these using Power BI and the Mapbox custom visual and they are very effective. Here's an open source / publish to web example that dynamically renders many thousands of shapes.

  20. Include UTC Offset as per documentation [Weather]

The API documentation and sample responses include UTC offsets:

"Date and time of the current observation displayed in ISO 8601 format, for example, 2019-10-27T19:39:57-08:00" / https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/maps/weather/getcurrentconditionspreview#examples

However the JSON returned, in "real life" does not:

    "dateTime": "2020-07-26T01:00:00+00:00"

This adds extra steps of using the TimeZone API, and implementing caching where possible.

I linked to a CurrentConditions example but this is not limited to it.
