SSMS Crash when dragging table from Object explorer into new query window
Have just installed this version v18.1 and everytime I drag a table from Object explorer into new query window SSMS crashes, I have to kill it.
I have no add-ins installed, have rebooted since installing.
O/s Win 10 15063.1387
This has been fixes. Please try the latest version of SSMS – 18.5 and let us know if you are still seeing this issue.

How can you even release a software and miss something like that during testing ??

Same problem - Significant impact on productivity as it is habit to drag & drop and this then takes time for me to kill the SSMS session restart and get back to the work I was doing. When is next release due please?
encountered the same issue. Is fix rolled out already ?
We are planning the next update in the next few weeks. thanks for your patience.

This is a major productivity drain and so would really appreciate an ETA on a fix for this.
Thank you Sunil / NDM - didn't know hitting escape would save me from having to quit
Mr Matteo - care to state when the fix will be out ?
BTW, hope every follows the advice on NDM on Jun 27th below. ESC will save you a SSMS kill and restart!
Glad to hear a fix in on the way! Force of habit dragging tables into the query window has crashed me too many times to count.

I have also experienced this issue. Looks like my typing skills are going to be tested ;-)

Agree. Extremely annoying issue. Hope Microsoft fix it quick.
SSMS usage becomes more irritating

@MatteoTaveggia, please give an ETA for the next version that will have this bug fixed.
I am going back to 17.9.1 at least it is more stable

Any estimate on when the fix will drop? Thanks
Same issue. Please note that if you hit ESC a couple of times the error message will disappear, still can't drag and drop but at least no restart required,
Having the same issue. Very annoying bug
Please fix this. How did this get past the testers?
Aaaah so it's a known problem, but not urgent enough to fix?...wish I hadn't updated now....back to version 17 for me then. My colleague never updates her system, think I should use the same policy
11 days since this issue was acknowledged in this thread by the Product Manager. What's the ETA for the fix to be rolled out?

Just update SSMS and found out about this issue, is a real problem, this does not encourage me to update my Microsoft products.
Also, if this was a known issue, why keep it available for update?
