Error with Detail Rows Expression when used with Excel drillthrough
With a SSAS Tabular model on compatibility Level 1400, I have defined a Default Rows Expression to allow the client to obtain specific columns when connecting with an Excel pivot table but in Excel 2016 the following error is returned when the drillthrough is executed:
"RETURN clause cannot be used with the DRILLTHROUGH statement when a DetailRows expression is already defined on the measure 'Transaction Count'"
I have defined the Default Detail Rows Expression at the table level and have not defined a Detail Rows expression on any measures individually. My understanding is that if no expression is defined on the measure it will use the table level (which is what I want).
No matter what measure I try to drillthrough on the error is the same (but the measure name is different of course).
SQL Server Version: 184.108.40.2069
Excel Version: 16.0.4639.1000 (32-bit)
Any idea what version?
I believe this was fixed a few months ago (March/April?)
Any update on this? We are having exact same problem for one user.
Is there a better place to track the status of this bug?
Hi John, we believe this is a bug with Excel 2016, and they're working on investigating and fixing the issue.
Due to the release cadence of Office, I can't guess when you would receive an update containing the fix -- hopefully within a few months...
