  1. Azure spending limit pr. Resource Group instead of pr. subscription.

I see a great potential for Azure if it was possible to control spending limit pr. ressource group.

In companies with many departments/developers or students at universities have need for develop environments in Azure. My aim is to reduce the risk of letting someone spin up 1000 VMs etc. and leaving them running for months before someone finds out.
Introducing spending limits / isolating cost for a resource group to each department/developer would be great.
Each developer could then be given control to his/hers own resource group.

  2. Possibility to create daily budget - Control unusual costs from day to day.

    Hi

    With reference to: https://twitter.com/rune_myrhaug/status/1101552474383704071?s=21

Let's say that normal cost for an subscription (or management group) is 1500. But one day this peaks up to 10.000,- due to an error or unusual usage. There is a need to get functionality that detects such cost-peaks. And the granularity to detect such peaks should be "day". Way to late to get informed or do action on this after a month or quarterly.

When such a cost-peak is detected there should be functionality that triggers automatic actions - like what's in "Azure Action Groups".

My understanding is that this can be solved by…

  3. Enabling custom spending limit per resource with API

Enabling this feature will allow the developers/software houses to provide more accurate pricing in their SaaS sales or even in the IaaS offerings, some customers just want a fixed cost/price like they used to do in the non-elastic economy, and it will help in avoiding the unexpected high bills.

  4. Spending limit for subscription and for Dev/Test Lab

Having spending limits both on subscription level and on Dev/Test Lab level. Possible to configure values in parallel:
    - maximum daily spending
    - maximum monthly spending
    - maximum overall spending

    Business reason:
Dev/Test Lab is created for sandbox or for smaller project environments. Separated subscription is created for bigger projects temporarily. These environments got unlimited credit today, only possible to control cost indirectly (to limit number of VMs or VmSizes) or proactively (budget alert). It is typically good for planned actions but there is a risk that cost dramatically overrun as of unplanned activities, e.g. via high outbound network traffic.…

  5. Make Cost Management available within a few minutes after subscription creation time

Currently it takes sometimes more than 48 hours (or more) before a budget can be assigned to a new subscription. This delay should be minimized so that budget can be assigned sooner. This is especially an issue when automating a new subscription with a blueprint that contains cost management.

  6. It appears there's no way to validate your cost or spend (from the portal for sure) until AFTER you've run over your budget I guess? Seems p

Sure don't care for not having any idea what's been spend, what is cost, until receiving a bill AFTER the fact. Wow, what if I spent my entire budget accidentally on a VM session? This seems pretty common to all providers, else why would vendors be offering wildly expensive tools to do what should be a simple click-on-the-vendors-portal and see your expenses, up to the minute?

  8. jason.copsey@nielsen.com

I would like the ability to create a budget based upon rate of change in percent for the granularity options available.

e.g. monthly projection is a growth of 2% / day (month/ year). I would like an alert if this is exceeded based upon previous measure.
day 1 is $100 day 2 is $102 day 3 is $123 so I receive a budget alert based upon the percentage difference between day 2 and day 3.

This is most useful with a precision level of daily so I've upvoted that other request.

  9. Only View Budgets For My Assigned Scope

As a subscription owner, I created budgets for 2 resource groups (let's call them Resource Group 1 and Resource Group 2). I then created a new Azure AD user (user@domain.onmicrosoft.com) and assigned him the Cost Management Reader role on Resource Group 1. I was surprised that when logged in as this user, when viewing the parent Subscription scope in the Budgets tab, I was able to see the budgets for both Resource Group 1 and Resource Group 2 (Even though the logged in user doesn't have any RBAC access to the subscription or Resource Group 2). I feel…

  10. Reduce budget alert latency from 20 hours to 1 hour or less

Currently, it can take up to 20 hours between a cost being incurred (e.g. resource created) and a budget alert being triggered. (See https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs/issues/41753)

From a financial risk management perspective, that's FAR too long, and should be reduced to e.g. at most 1 hour.

  11. Cost Alerting Recommendation: Budget Pace Exceeded

Instead of a % of budget, what we really need is to be alerted anytime we are above a budgeted pace. For example, if Azure could calculate at the end of each business day what our total costs for the billing cycle are so far, and what percent of the billing cycle has elapsed, you could send us an alert if we are above the budget dollar pace we set.

Here's the business case. I get a monthly budget approved by my Finance Department. With this enhancement, I would set one budget pace alert at a dollar value a little…

  12. Budget alert greater than 100%

I would like to be able to set an alert when the spend is 110% of budget, there is currently validation than only allows up to 100.

  13. Daily Spend Report

I wrote a script that emails me every day a simple report:

    • Total spend for the past day over the day before

    • Total spend for the past 30 days over the 30 days before that

Similar to how I can get a daily account balance email from my bank.

Just a quick "that looks right" glance in the morning is all that's needed.

I wish it was built in!

  14. Cost Analysis - currency

When I view the cost analysis on screen it shows me the costs in my local currency (GBP) however if I then download the data in a spreadsheet it shows the costs in USD.
Not sure if this is a bug or a 'feature' but I don't see an option to change it to GBP for the download.
It would be useful to have this option.

  15. Make it so I can create a budget

My idea is to make it work.

Seriously. There are scores of videos out there showing how to set up a budget for your pay-as-you-go subscription. Yet I come to this screen and it tells me "Support coming soon - Cost Management budgets support for subscription is coming soon."

WTF? I must be doing something wrong, but maybe it could give me a hint?

  16. Ability to put budget start date int he past

Only just started looking at cost management and i would like to be able to set my budgets to run from the beginning of the year so i can get a full year view on how we have done on azure spend vs budget. I am unable to do this at the moment as the budget start date has to be the month you enter it.

  17. Forecast next month's cost

It would be great to see next month forecast based on current month, last month, last year same month trends.

Also, based on today's resources, what will be exact cost next month, knowing this will help in good budget planning

  19. Send out a single alert when the spend is greater than our budget alert level

I want to set-up an alert at 50% and at 100% of the budget. This way I can mid-budget predict if we are going over budget or not.

This budget has been set-up but once we go over 50%, a daily mail is send to warn me about the spend being over 50% of the budget.

The alert has lost is purpose like this.

  20. Add an Alert Notification for Budget Increase

On behalf of a customer, would like to be able to enable an email alert notification be sent when the Budget is increased under Pay as You Go.

When a customer's user group's budget requests additional funding for their Azure resources, the group should be able to be notified that funding has been applied to their budget
