Allow AAD Guest Users
On a project for a large national public body and they have stakeholders across 15 Regional Directorates and several Governmental organisations. The Data Catalog needs to be available to all of them. We employ the Azure AD B2B model for granting rights to externals for collaboration in O365 but we can't add them to the Data Catalog so they can't do data discovery or request access to data resources. I can't imagine we are the only org with this kind of scenario...We need AAD Guest Access.
I am having same issue. There are many external AAD users that wants access to our Azure Data Catalog. I opened ticket and got similar answer from Azure support. We need to resolve this soon! Here is support response :(
Greetings for today!
I started performing tests on my environment, creating a guest user and adding it to my own Data Catalog, being able to register it using the #EXT# account such as yourself and then trying to access to such information. However, I was getting the same behavior as you, where this guest user wasn't connecting to the same catalog that belonged to my tenant. After performing some research on this matter, I realized that Guest users are currently unsupported for this feature. Even though the Product team is aware of this situation, there is still no specific date for a change that allow external users to access Data Catalogs the way we intended.
Below I'm adding a couple of Microsoft forums where other enterprises were experiencing similar behaviors:
At this point, it would be required to create a native user for those accounts that you'd like to add, instead of using the guest user object that exist currently on your tenant.
Let me know your thoughts.
