Support for patching Azure VM Scale Sets
Currently I can only patch my regular windows VMs through Update Management. Would be great to support VM Scale Sets too.
Scale Set integration is currently being investigated.
Recommend using Azure Automatic OS image upgrades with Virtual Machine Scale Sets : https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/virtual-machine-scale-sets/virtual-machine-scale-sets-automatic-upgrade

I've installed the MicrosoftMonitoringAgent on my Windows Scalesets but ma not getting Update or UpdateSummary logs being returned? Is there a config I need to change? On normal VMs this works fine.
I do not find any information regarding VMSS update management. Is it possible now or what is alternate way to update VMs in a scaleset?
I can see VMSS is supported by Update management now , can we please update this thread ?
Azure virtual machine scale sets can be managed through Update Management. Update Management works on the instances themselves and not on the base image. You'll need to schedule the updates in an incremental way, so that not all the VM instances are updated at once. You can add nodes for virtual machine scale sets by following the steps under Onboard a non-Azure machine.

Any update on this?
What is the alternative method for updating the VMSS
Azure Automation and OMS currently do not support deploying updates to VM scale set.
There isn't any good solution to keep all of the VMs in a VM scale set up to date. We can deploy OMS agents on the VMs of a scale set, and they are reporting compliance status in the Update Management blade of the Automation Account. But we are unable to schedule update deployment for the VMs.
VMss for linux with update management,
Also make sure , VMss complice with scale set method. So that when updates are installed it can reboot on the compliance with availability set and we can reduce downtime .
We definitely want to do this. We are figuring out the plan for it.
How can we configure windows update in vm scale sets
