  1. Support for patching Azure VM Scale Sets

Currently I can only patch my regular windows VMs through Update Management. Would be great to support VM Scale Sets too.

  3. Allow us the ability to deny or clear out a update not reporting correctly

I am having an issue which keeps showing missing KB2267602 , which are defender updates but they are old and new definitions are already installed. Also getting 2 hosts with Intel - System - 10/3/2017 12:00:00 AM - 11.7.0.1045, and also 3 machines with Microsoft driver update for MS Publisher Imagesetter. If there was a way to deny these thru Azure it would be great as it never shows the machines up to date.

  4. List Machines with their FQDN instead of the Computername without Domain suffix

At the Moment Computers are listed without their Domain Suffix. If you have multiple Domains/Subdomains you have no chance to know which Machine belongs to which Domain if you have naming guides, like

    contoso-dc01.michigan.contoso.com
    contoso-dc01.newyork.contoso.com

because you will see two machines with "contoso-dc01".

  5. All fail when 1 doesn't aplpy

I had a full deployment failure because "You have requested to create an update configuration on a machine that is not registered for Update Management." The one mentioned in the error was connected to update management and showed in the OMS logs. I'll contact support, BUT....

It would make more sense if the deployment would work for everything that it can and just fail on those 1 or 2 that it cannot apply on. None of the deployment happened because of this 1 failure.

  6. Do an immediate refresh of compliance data after update deployment (linux)

After a deployment/update job, the data for the compliance dashboard should be immediately updated - not have to wait for the next scheduled compliance check

  7. Add "Installed" UpdateState for Linux VMs.

We have a Power BI report for "Updates Installed this month" for our environment, based on UpdateState column in LogAnalytics, but it works only with Windows VMs as there is no "Installed" state for LinuxVMs, only "Needed" and "NotNeeded".

  8. Dynamic Update Deployments

Update deployments needs to be dynamic. As of now if we target a group of 5 servers the deployment is static and will always target only these 5 servers, even if the group changes and have 100 servers in it. The update deployment should be able to evaluate the group membership at each runtime.

  9. Ability to reinstall

Installed and configured with a workspace which is now gone, the extension is orphaned with no option to reinstall or redeploy. Error shows:

    The solution cannot be enabled on this VM because the VM already has the management agent but the workspace associated with the agent cannot be found within the subscription: {guid}

Ability to reinstall or reconfigure to another workspace would help

  10. Microsoft driver update for MS Publisher Color Printer

Please remove "Microsoft driver update for MS Publisher Color Printer" from the list of missing updates for Windows Server 2016 VMs. This was already an issue over a year ago in the old update management solution in OMS and is still not fixed.
I even opened a case REG:117050315683024 back then because that driver didn't even fit into the logic of the update script. The bug was fixed but the uninstallable update still remains to this day

  12. "Schedule Update Deployment" button is initially missing

I'll admit, I tried out this feature 3x without reading the online docs. It's fairly straightforward but during VM configuration, I kept looking for the "Schedule Update Deployment" button. If you were to add those buttons right away in a grayed out state with the 'i' hover button saying "Please wait - VM configuration in progress", then it would have been very intuitive to use without any doc assistance.

  13. Add ability to remove previous Update Deployments stuck in "In Progress" state

I have two update deployments that are stuck in progress and won't go away. The Automation jobs finished successfully, but they still show in progress. It would be nice if there was an option to remove previous deployments. Or will these disappear with time?

  15. Issue with update management

    1. create a vm with linux123

    2. ENable update management and run the update management (once)

    3. delete the vm/resource group

    4. create the resource group/vm with exact same name & parameters (linux123)

    5. ENable update management

At this point , the vm always stays in 'Not assesed' state and reports as complaint at the vm level.

support confirmed the oms files got corrupted and they had to clean it up and reinstall oms agent again

The behaviour is consistent with atleast two vms.

  19. It is nice to have option to export list of servers which are scheduled for update management

After scheduling update management, there is no way we can export list of servers that are part of the update management. While we create groups ahead of scheduling patching but at the time of creating the schedule, there is no way to compare that with the groups created.

  20. computer group

Increase the computer group limitations for Update Management. Patching a few hundred to a few thousand machines with this 100 machine limit is not very scalable.

Thanks for the feedback. We support groups up to 500 computers large in the Azure Portal, but we hear that isn’t enough and we can look at increasing this up to “a few thousand”. Please feel free to post your desired maximum group size in this item so we have a good sense of what the requirements are.
