  1. Options to "Pause/Hold" Update Management Schedules.

We need an option to temporarily Hold\Pause the update management schedules.

This will help us during promotional events or any emergency times to stop installing the updates.

Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote which allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  2. deployment schedules

Please provide the start time in the deployment schedules view. I am seeing my old deployments. My requirement is just to restart some of them. When I am editing them I do not see the new start times and it is really confusing.

  3. Azure Update Management - ability to filter machines based on machine status/health eg disk space available

This functionality is in SCCM to allow you to ignore machines that have less than 2GB free on the C: drive for a particular deployment and throw a warning.

Current behaviour in Azure Update Management will attempt and blow out the disk space

  4. Options to ignore de-allocated machines while using "Dynamic Groups" feature

We selected a few "Resource Groups" to update the VM's during the schedule using dynamic groups but if any of the VM is in a de-allocated state that will be obviously failed while deployment, I feel if we have an option to "Ignore De-Allocated" machines it would be great.

This helps to see less failed deployments since we know our VM's are de-allocated. (If any)

  6. Update Management Cli

Update Management needs to be added to Azure Cli and Powershell Modules.
This way new Azure and Non-Azure can be added automatically and updates managed. Also in order to export reports in various formats.

  8. Support SharePoint updates or don't attempt to apply them

The service currently detects missing SharePoint updates and will attempt to apply them, however, this reliably fails with error code 0x80240020. This appears to be a known issue in general when installing SharePoint updates remotely, with the best practice being to install SharePoint updates manually due to the requirement to run PSConfig after installation. Further, when the updates fail, the service attempts to install the failed updates again around 40 times. These all fail, and result in a "bloated" Windows Update history of install failures.

SharePoint updates should either be supported by this service or explicitly blacklisted so that updates…

  9. Adjustable / customisable logging frequency

I know the data being pumped to Log Analytics is already reasonably small compared to some of the other things that can be pushed there, but is there any possibility to adjust how frequently hosts post data to that endpoint?

For example, I'd like to reduce the check-in frequency by at least 4x, thereby decreasing log volume and more efficient use of my log analytics storage.

  10. Linux Updates - Not restarted on kernel upgrade

We're trialling the update management for our Linux hosts within Azure and despite the packages being upgraded successfully, I've noticed the host hasn't rebooted even after a kernel upgrade.

Can this please be raised with the appropriate team for investigation?

  11. Update of on premises Hyper-V and or S2D Cluster

An Hyper-V / S2D Cluster needs an tailored mechanism for patching. Otherwise you will disrupt your on premises workload with a scheduled update management deployment.

  14. Add "Drivers" as an update classification.

Drivers are automatically being pushed when "Select All" is selected for update classification. We need the option to exclude the "Drivers" classification from updates. I opened a ticket on this with Microsoft and was told to post it here.

  15. Email when updates finish with summary or attachment of results

Need an email notification when the deployment is complete with summary of which servers were successful/failed. I do not want an email per server.

  17. Ability to refresh the 'Update Management' blade.

I cannot be sure that the window I'm looking at is up-to-date. A refresh button would give me confidence in this.

  18. OMS Gateway as the updates repository

Is it possible for updates to be downloaded on the OMS Gateway server and forwarded to clients?
I do not want to use the WSUS server as a repository.
I would like OMS Gateway server to connect directly to update.microsoft.com and download the required update itself.

  19. Add advanced scheduling to support patch Tuesday

We typically apply patches the weekend after Patch Tuesday but it's not always the second weekend of the month so we can't schedule it with the options available.

  20. Ability to schedule the exact reboot time

In our update installation process, we need to communicate to our clients as precisely as possible the time when the servers will be offline (rebooting).

Right now, we start installing updates 30 minutes before the agreed upon time and delay rebooting the servers until that time. We would love to be able to do this using Update Management.
