ACR login with podman
Tracking feature request: https://github.com/Azure/azure-cli/issues/14768
Describe the bug
az acr login --name registry
You may want to use 'az acr login -n registry --expose-token' to get an access token, which does not require Docker to be installed.
An error occurred: DOCKERCOMMANDERROR
Emulate Docker CLI using podman. Create /etc/containers/nodocker to quiet msg
install: podman, podman-docker emulator for CLI
az acr login to work
RHEL8. Rhel8 does not have docker anymore.
If you do dnf install docker it will install podman and podman-docker for CLI backwards compatibility.
With growing podman addition would be good for this to work out of the box. With or without podman-docker package.
Joe Fisher commented
This issue is critical for us. We must be able to use PodMan with the Azure CLI and Azure container repositories.
From the beginning, our company was primarily a Windows shop.
But, we are beginning to migrate all of our applications to Linux containers.
And, because of the inherent security features, PodMan is a better fit than Docker.
If you can not prioritize the PodMan compatibility issues with the Azure CLI, then we may decide to migrate away from Azure completely, for a more PodMan and Linux container friendly provider.
Note that we currently have almost 200 separate products, with thousands of servers.
Do you really want to lose our business?
Please prioritize this PodMan and Azure CLI bug, and fix this compatibility issue.
