  1. Allow renaming of alerts

I should be able to rename my alerts. It is beyond belief to me that the name is immutable. I have to hope my colleagues chose exactly the right name as they create an alert, matching the pattern set for other alerts. Seriously, the name of ANYTHING should be easily editable as noone ever gets names correctly the first time.

  2. Customize Alert Email

Alert Templates should be provided to configure the email subject, body and priority of email. This will help in categorizing the alerts in queues.

  3. Feature of testing if action groups would be sent correctly in Azure Monitor.

When I create an alert rule in Azure Monitor to send an email, I want to test if the email would be sent and received correctly.

Now, it doesn't seem to have this feature in Azure Monitor.
So it is better for me if there is this feature.

    Hello,

I’m reaching out to let you know that we’ve started designing this feature.

We’re planning to conduct a usability study in the coming weeks to test this feature’s UX, and looking for participants to take part and help shape this feature.

If you’re interested in participating in this study, please reach out to me at harelbr@microsoft.com

    Thanks!

  4. Add scheduled log search query alert at specific time

We used to configure log search based alerts that done one check diary (period of 1440 and frequency of 1440 )
. For example; backup jobs checks, ADFA
activities and pipelines runs and any other log based check you must need.
If I want those alerts fire at 08:00 o'clock I must set up the alert at 08:00h. This works fine.
It would be great we could set the exact time to launch the query like cron
    or scheduled.

  5. Allow cloning of existing azure monitor alert rules

Most of our alert rules are variants/copies of each other: same alert target, same action group, similar search queries, evaluation logic etc.

It would be great if we could simply clone an existing alert rule (and modify it as needed) instead of creating one from scratch each time.

  6. Alerting TimeWindow limitation of 24-Hours makes Alerting useless. Shoud really match the retention for LogAnalytics!

Alerting TimeWindow limitation of 24-Hours makes Alerting useless. Shoud really match the retention for LogAnalytics!

Is there a way to come around some major limitations when creating Alerts? The biggest problem is the Time Window restriction. This restricts us from searching in data older than 24 hours when creating an alert. I expect a record for a custom MessageType
to arrive once a week, i am not able to create an Alert if this message does not appear as expected.
The retention days for OMS Log Analytics is minimum 31 days according to this article: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/…/change-oms-log-analytic…/
    Why do we then…

  7. Support the creation of dynamic threshold alerts for Custom Log Queries from the portal

At the moment only Metrics support dynamic thresholds. I have been waiting for this for months! You can do this with DataDog or NewRelic long time ago..

    Thanks!

  8. Alert when the VWD session host status becomes "unavailable"

Currently, there is no way to notify the VWD session hosts that their status has changed.
There is a diagnostic data, but it only detects a failed session host connection.
Customers want to be notified when the session hosts status transitions, not when the connection fails.
The reason for this is that customer want to deal with any event that makes a session host unavailable as soon as possible.

  9. Multiple target resources

Currently there is possibility to choose only one and existed target resource per alert. It would be very handy if I can specify multiple resource of the same type and also apply it for non-existed resource that will be automatically applied after resource is created.

  10. Assign a specific Azure AD group to be alerted on App Insights alerts

The alerting is somewhat very basic on Azure. I want to setup alerts for a specific Azure AD group, instead of having to create a group to be alerted with the same users I have already added on some Azure AD groups

  11. Multiple thresholds and actions for one alert

Please add the option to define multiple thresholds for an alert that lead to different severities. For example, monitoring a CPU requires a different alert for each type of severity, i.e 70% CPU as sev2 and 90% CPU as sev0 would require two different uncorrelated alerts instead of one. That would facilitate also the action sets and grouping the alerts.

  12. Azure Monitor Alert condition for Backup Protected Item events

When creating an Alert Rule for a Recovery Services Vault, we do not have the option to pick the signal "Backup Protected Item" from the Activity Log and it would be very helpful to be able to generate alerts based off of that event. Or, allow the signal "All Administrative operations" to have the Event initiated by with a filter on "Microsoft.RecoveryServices". Thank you.

  13. Allow Alert Rules to be set at the Management Group Level

For scenarios where users need to configure Alert Rules targeting multiple subscriptions, and other large scale scenarios, it would be useful to have the possibility of creating an Alert Rule at the Management Group Level.

Right now Alert Rules can only be created against a Single Subscription.

  14. Azure Monitor Alert Rules in customizable timezone dates instead of UTC

Have Azure Monitor alert emails contain the dates in a user customizable timezone instead of UTC.

  15. Enable the use of tags on alerts in the Azure Portal

It is not possible to assign tags upon creation of alerts in the Azure Portal (ARM/Powershell does).
It would be great to differentiate alert sets using tags for alert management in the Azure Portal.

  16. Ability to increase Aggregation granularity (period) to more than 24 hours

Currently the maximum value for aggregation granularity is 24 hours. We have a scenario where we would like to have this number way higher, like 48 or 72 hours. It would be great if this can be made available so that we don't have to look around for other alerting platforms.

  17. Application Insights: Alerts to include optional multiple conditions and CRON time

Add the ability to specify one or more conditions to trigger an alert.

For example, "Availability > 0 AND Function Count > 0" over last 5 minutes.

Also it would be nice to have some alerts running only between specific times hence the request for an optional CRON time (using UTC timezone).

For example, "Alert to run only between 9am - 5pm".

  18. Alert rotation on-call scheduling

Would like the ability to set a schedule of which action group gets the alert. This would allow for a rotating on-call response. Action group 1 gets the notification on week 1, Action group 2 gets the notification on week 2, etc. This could also be beneficial for hourly rotation (day shift / night shift). Currently using PagerDuty for this, but the integration with Log Analytic alerts is terrible.

  19. Action group - Let us control name and region for Resouce group

Let us control name and region for Resouce group created along with a Action Groip.

The default resource group created can't be renamed, and the region is hard coded to east us (if I'm not mistaken). It will fail even, if your'e having Azure Policies to block resource group creation in certain regions. There should be better logic involved in choosing default region. Or better: Let us choose.

  20. Add ARM template support for Azure Monitor Scheduled Query Rule export when creating an Alert Rule in the App Insights Analytics blade

It would be very helpful when creating an Alert Rule in the App Insights Analytics blade in the Azure portal if we could export the ARM template for the Scheduled Query Rule that's about to be created, similar to the way we can export the "Automation Script" when creating other resources.

This would be useful for helping us automated our monitoring in ARM templates as part of our CI/CD process.
