Azure Alert Management provides a unified alerting experience across all Azure monitoring services including but not limited to Azure Monitor (Metrics and Activity Logs), Application Insights and OMS Log Analytics with support for third party services coming in future.
Azure Alert Management provides features such as alert correlation and state management.
This forum is to discuss anything related to alerting in Azure.

  1. Increase the flexibility in Email/SMS/Push format.

The SMS/Push notification is really great, but there are no VM name on it. When customers receive a SMS/Push, they only know a alert is fired, but they don't know which VM is facing the issue. They have to open email to check the details.

The Email/SMS/Push format might not fit customer's need. Maybe Azure could add some boxes let customer themselves to add the items info they need. such as "ComputerName", "ServicesName".

  2. Reduce Spam from Metrics Alerts

My metrics alerts fire every few minutes, despite previous alerts not being Resolved. A new copy of the same alert should not be able to fire until either the previous alert is Resolved or some configurable amount of time has passed.

  4. Set schedule for alerts

We have configured 1000s of alerts for databases performance and response time for webapps. We do all our releases in the late evenings. This means I will get 1000s of emails saying that performance is not good. I would like to be able to set a maintenance window for the alert so that we don't get these alerts during our maintenance window.

  5. Email or Azure portal notification regarding migration of classic alerts

Currently, it is hard to know status of migration from classic alerts to new alerts from customer standpoint.

Is it possible to send emails out to Azure Monitor classic alerts user so that they can get latest information as soon as possible?

  6. Allow alerts to be triggered thru Logic Apps, Functions or Custom Applications

Allow alerts to be triggered thru Logic Apps, Fucntions or Custom Applications.

in our case , many monitoring fucntions are creating alerts and posting it to third party system. We r thinking use Azure Alert and Action Groups but can trigger Alerts from Fucntions..

  7. Alerts for "Max Request Units" in Cosmos DB

In the legacy alerts, there was an alert called "Maxs RUs Sec" that would trigger if we hit a certain RU count on Cosmos DB.

In the new Alerts, we cannot find a way to get the same alert setup. We only see "Total Request Units" however this does not give us what we are looking for.

Is "Maxs RUs Sec" an upcoming feature? Is there a current workaround for to get this data in an alert?

  8. Enable/support "new" alerts to be altered with/through CLI API

    Hi
Please enable support for new alert type through CLI API. Classic is supported
We can alter both new and classic alerts in Azure Portal, but only classic alerts with CLI. This should be prioritized as all alerts now will be created in new format to avoid migration later.
We use alerting through log analytics and directly per item. Not being able to change alert status automatically during deploys is a bit of a showstopper.
I get flashbacks to classic vs. New portal.

  9. Suppress Alerts by Machine or User

We would like to be able to suppress alerts based on the Computer or TargetUserAccount returned in the search query. For example, if I am monitoring disk space every 60 minutes, I should only receive 1 alert for INSTANCE1 but still be able to alert on other instances entering a low disk space condition the next time the alert runs. Similarly, if I alert on a user account failed login attemps, I should be able to exclude just that user but alert on others the next time that alert is polled.

  10. The alert's resource link to App Insights should take you right to the triggering requests or their timeframe

In the Alerts UI, the App Insights link for request-based Alerts (i.e Server Response Time) should take you right to the triggering requests or their timeframe, not just the home page for App Insights.

  11. Complex Alert Criteria

I would like the ability to create more complex alert criteria such as the ratio of one metric against another. For instance, I would like to configure an alert using a "total errors metric" / "total requests metric". If the ratio exceeded some number then the alert would be triggered.

  13. Multiple target resources

Currently there is possibility to choose only one and existed target resource per alert. It would be very handy if I can specify multiple resource of the same type and also apply it for non-existed resource that will be automatically applied after resource is created.

  14. Log role deletions to the Activity Logs

Azure Activity Logs record when roles are assigned to users. We should also be displaying events for when roles are removed from users, and the actor who removed the role.

  15. There should be a custom JSON payload option for Application Insights alerts.

There should be a custom JSON payload option for Application Insights alerts.

it's not actually currently possible to use the custom JSON payload option for Application Insights alerts. It's only possible for Log Analytics alerts.

  17. Alert based on "Last Activity Time" for IOT Device

Looking to create an alert that for an IOT Device when the "Last Activity Time" exceeds a certain time threshold.

eg; alert when "Last Activity Time" is older than 24 hours

Would allow us to create email alerts to specific people on particular IOT Devices

  18. Allow webhooks to authenticate via authentication headers

CUrrently, providing the tokenID of the webhook in the alert URI is not the most secure method of posting - we would like to be able to use authorization headers to authenticate against our webhook and also identify the source of the post.

Having tokens in the url is really poor as typically logging software will log the request path + parameters (meaning the tokenID will be exposed),

  19. Provide a list or range of IP addresses alerts are sent from.

A list of IP addresses the alerts are sent from would be useful when whitelisting IP addresses is necessary.
