  1. Add ACI custom networking to the UK

I want to add an ACI instance to an existing private VNet in the UK. Please add this to the availability list

    Thanks

  2. Wait for the Managed Identity Endpoint to be available if an ACI was created with an identity

Oftentimes, when a container is started with a Managed Identity enabled, the application in the container starts up earlier than the Managed Identity endpoint is available (I mean this endpoint: http://169.254.169.254/metadata/identity/oauth2/token).

This causes the application to fail if shortly after startup it requests a resource it authenticates with via managed identity: a common usecase. The workarounds (sleep or manual retrying of managed identity endpoint) are rather ugly.

Please wait for the endpoint to be available when starting a container with an identity enabled.

  4. Docs gap to find where to monitor ACI deploy status

Update documentation on Azure Container Instances to provide guidance on how to monitor ACI deployment status via Azure Portal and where the users can find them in Portal.

  6. Increasing limits of Container Instance service in China East 2 region

There is currently a limit in China East 2 region of at most 2 CPU cores and 8 GB of memory per ACI container.

Could these limits be increased to 4 CPU core and 14 GB of memory?

  7. Add support for FTP server in passive mode

Currently the ACI ingress does not support FTP server in passive mode. It would be very nice to have support for this in ACI to run small services like FTP directly in a container instance. Also support for a larger port range than the 10 ports currently supported.

  8. Expand ACI support beyond 4 CPU core limit, our network router container needs 8 cores

AKS already supports this requirement, please do the same for ACI.
We don't need to use K8s for our containerized router, but do need more cores for it so it can meet its network throughput requirements.

To add this support to ACI by Azure, cannot be a technical challenge as you already do this for AKS and also for the VM based solutions. The issue seems to be that your market analysis tells you most people don't need high powered containers, which is a fair assessment, but there are customers in your networking vendors who could use more cores being…

  9. Improved discoverability for private IP addresses.

    Situation:
Attempting to use Azure Container Instance to host a dot net core application. Application receives UDP messages from multiple IOT devices on a remove network that is connected to azure via a VPN Gateway.

    Issue:
I could not find a reliable way for the remote network devices to discovery/refer to the container instance as the IP address changes and there is no DNS capability for the instance when using a Private IP.
There appeared to be no suitable work arounds with load balancers, Application Gateways, or Firewalls.

    Request for improvement:
Add a way that allows remote resources to reference…

  10. Container Groups should have a MAX value for number of retries on failures

Azure Container Instances does not have maximum retry count for failures, Azure Function and others have retry functionality that retries when failed. The ask is to have Container Groups to have maximum retry count for failures.

  11. ACI Container Groups should have configurable TTL that starts after all containers reach a terminal state.

Once the Azure Container Instances reach final/terminated state, they have to be deleted or cleaned manually. The ask is to have a configuration setting to remove the container group automatically after all the instances in the group reach final or terminated state.

  12. Customize Disk Performance for Container Instances

Azure Container Instances is a great quick way to deploy containers. But unfortunately, the disk speed is very slow, around 30MB/s and when attaching a Azure File Storage it is around 100MB/s. Meanwhile on a dedicated SSD VM it does over 400MB/s.

Our container that we need to deploy is high temporary IO which requires faster disks. Otherwise our workload will take 7 times slower with Container Instances than normal Kubernetes.

Would be nice to pass a command --disk ssd to the cli to support this.

  13. Support starting containers based on Azure Queues

Our software spools up containers to process data from Azure Queue. It would be useful if containers could automatically be spooled up based on how many items are in an Azure Queue (in our case 1 container for 1 queue item). At the moment we are using a Function to manage this process but something built in to ACI would be great.

  15. Allow to set sysctl key in ACI.

Unable to use the elasticsearch image from bitnami. The container fails to start because it requires to set the kernel parameter vm.maxmapcount to at least 262144.

This stack exchange post explains the issue as well as a solution with Kubernetes.

  16. Add ACI containers to the list of allowed trusted Microsoft service.

When certain resources are deployed (Azure key Vault as an example), we often select the option to allow connections from private Endpoints or selected networks only. Along with the option to allow "Allow trusted Microsoft services to bypass this firewall?".

However, these trusted services do not include our deployed ACI containers.

Instead, we have to identify the IP address for the container and add it as an exception, this complicates deployment. A feature to be able to add our ACI containers to connect as an allowed resource would simplify deployment.

One other option for us could be to deploy ACI…

  17. Implement ACI in regions Switzerland North and Switzerland West

We are moving medical data around in Switzerland, the data constitutes PII sensitive data, and in accordance with our regulators, the data must reside in jurisdiction Switzerland. It is a legal requirement for us. We would like to use the SFTP on Azure service which is based on ACI.

  18. Configure Volumes in Web UI

Mounting persistent volumes is only possible for ACI in Cli, for multiple volumes only with resource manager templates.
As a lot of use cases need to have persistent storage it would be great to add them in web ui as well.

  19. Azure Container Registry failure pushing Windows containers

Building a .NET Core container based on .NET Core base image, build with Docker on Windows as a Windows container. The push fails with an 'End of File' during push, however Docker on Windows to build for Linux has no issues.

  20. ACI deploys container groups (Pods) showing Kubernetes services links on environment variables

Azure Container Instances is showing Kubernetes services information on environment variables as default behavior. This is polluting the environmental variable space when "az container exec" command is run. Need the ability to disable ACI pods from populating environment variable space with Kubernetes services information.
