MySQL release version 8.x
Version 8.x is the next stable release of MySQL and we would like to stay on Azure but we do need a better performing database with more JSON support.
MariaDB latest stable would also be good enough.
MySQL 8.0 is now generally available.

Hello. Is there a timeline for upgrade from 8.0.15 to 8.0.19?
When is MySQL version 8.0 likely to be in General Availability? I have upcoming clients' projects that will need to use MySQL version 8.0 in production.

What's the status on this please?

I see some suggestions are flagged as "UNDER REVIEW", some as "PLANNED" and some as "STARTED". As this one's status is "PLANNED", does that mean that it hasn't even been "STARTED" yet?
Any updates on this? Why is Microsoft being so quiet? Some feedback would be nice...

Both Azure and GCloud only offer MySQL up to 5.7. Seems only AWS has the 8 version!!
Why the heck is that?
Oracle cloud has no MySQL as Paas, it only has Oracle DB (at least I couldn't find any MySQL there, only through VM).
I'd prefer Azure, but MS is making things hard for me.
is there an ETA for this please?

Any news? Now that Azure data centres are in South Africa, we'd like to migrate our MySQL databases from our current servers to Azure. But we need MySQL 8 as that's what we're currently using.
First it was "by the end of this calendar year 2018". Then "The ETA for this has shifted out early 2019." Now we are entering the second half of 2019 and still no update!
Any idea when support for MySQL 8,0 is coming?

Any news? Almost a year later and we're still stuck with MySQL 5.7

Is there any update on this? The planning was late 2018 and now early 2019?

Same question here. Its difficult to plan against a moving target.
