move to another resource
i want to move azure database for mysql to another resource that i managed in same subcription.
Customers can now move existing Azure Database for MySQL servers to either a new subscription or a new resource group in the same subscription. This functionality provides customers with the flexibility to manage their MySQL resources by using different resource groups and subscriptions. Learn more about how to move servers by using the:
- Azure portal: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/resource-group-move-resources#use-portal
- Azure CLI: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/resource-group-move-resources#use-azure-cli
- REST API: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/resource-group-move-resources#use-rest-api
Merging this with a duplicate suggestion.
Move from one Resource Group to another Resource Group
The idea would be to be able to migrate the MySQL Azure Database in the same way as you can migrate the SQL Azure Database. This would then be achievable by executing the 'Move-AzureRmResource' command.
Currently the only migration options are export-import and backup-restore.
Correct, currently move is not supported. To move your database to another instance you may use one of the migration tools that support MySQL. Please refer to documentation for dump & restore (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/mysql/concepts-migrate-dump-restore) and import/export (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/mysql/concepts-migrate-import-export) guidance.
That is because Azure Database for MySQL is in preview and, I think, you can move it to another resource in the future.
Dynamically moving pre-created servers across subscription and resource group is currently not supported.
