Batch scheduler implementation
Currently I use a crontab job on my Azure Linux server to run overnight batch sql processes but obviously not having access to the O/S this is impossible when used as a PaaS, so could you implement a scheduler system to allow running of sql jobs/stored procedures? (Something like SQL Agent in SQL Server would be even more flexible).
Support for changing the parameter “event_scheduler” was added and can be updated in the Azure portal, Azure CLI, or ARM. Does using Event Scheduler work as an alternative to Cron?

In MySQL, it supports the event scheduler to run the tasks. You can refer to https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/event-scheduler.html.
Currently we disabled the event scheduler in Azure Database for MySQL. And we plan to expose this feature in future.
