  2. plv8 extension

Can the plv8 extension please be added so we can use JavaScript as a language.

    It's used in Marten:

    https://github.com/JasperFx/marten

And I have a few functions for supporting deep merging of json documents.

  3. Vnet integration

Join the PostgreSQL server to a Vnet so we can avoid the requirement to expose a public IP address to the wider internet. Or, create a setting to allow just access from a given App Service.

Same-region read replicas in Azure Database for PostgreSQL are out of public preview and are now generally available. You can create up to 5 read replicas for every master server.

New functionality enabled as part of GA includes
    - Command line option for creating replicas https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/postgresql/howto-read-replicas-cli
    - Introduced parameters that are helpful for some replication scenarios: hot_standby_feedback, max_standby_archive_delay, max_standby_streaming_delay, vacuum_defer_cleanup_age

Learn more about read replicas in the overview (https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/postgresql/concepts-read-replicas) and how to create replicas from the Azure portal (https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/postgresql/howto-read-replicas-portal).

Thank you for your support of this feature.

    Best,
Rachel, on behalf of the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team

  5. (Cross-region) Read replicas

Would be great to have an ability to have a master in one region (e.g. Central US) and read-only replicas in other regions (e.g. West/East US)

    (renamed; merged with "active geo-replication")

  6. Firewall Option: Auto-enable other Azure Services

As known from the MS SQL Database service, there should be an option to enable other Azure Services (e.g. Web Apps) to connect the database without white-listing every single IP.

  12. GA timeline? Already 2018!

Despite MS keep trying to say it will be GA by end of 2017, it is already 2018 and thus far a lot of critical features are missing and no sign for completion:

    1. Custom VNET
    2. Replication - it’s not just for redundancy, for horizontal scaling there is no way to not include replication

Now Basic, General Purpose and Memory Optimized tiers of Azure Database for PostgreSQL are available in Australia East region!

We’ve been actively working on making product available in Australia Southeast region in few weeks.

We also announced General Availability of the product today, please take a moment to check announcement in Azure blog: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-general-availability-of-azure-database-services-for-mysql-and-postgresql/

  15. Rebuild PostgreSQL with libxml option

When I tried to insert XML data, following error occurs and cannot insert XML data to Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

    Errors:
    BaseMessage:unsupported XML feature
Detail:This functionality requires the server to be built with libxml support.
Hint:You need to rebuild PostgreSQL using --with-libxml.

From the error message, we need to rebuild the PostgreSQL with libxml option, but I don’t think Azure Database for PostgreSQL have such a feature right now.
Please add the feature so that we could migrate our application to "Azure Database for PostgreSQL."

  20. Close SSL connections gracefully

When the client closes a Postgres connection (by sending the "X" command) that uses SSL, a normal Postgres server sends SSL "close_notify" alert, thus closing the connection gracefully (client sees graceful "end of stream").

With Azure PostgreSQL, I see just a TCP RST packet, and the client sees an abrutly terminated connection.

This causes unnecessary errors with at least some Postgresql client libraries. For example, the current version of Node.js pg / node-postgres library.
