  3. Comb ids generator

Can this extension be considered? It generates pseudo random uuid that improves indexing because of the ordering of the byes.

  5. Service health notifications do not specify about PG minor version upgrades

Neither Service health notifications do specify nor Azure publishes details in the RDS portal about PG minor version upgrades. Please try to enhance the notifications or by any means of communication in providing more details to the end users.

  7. Publish signed/trusted docker images that match hosted extensions.

For purposes of aligning development/testing of projects hosted on Azure, it would be nice if Microsoft provided docker images for PostgreSQL, perhaps using the Bitnami images as a baseline or guide for setup scripts/options, that match Azure's production versions and extensions.

As the default and bitnami PostgreSQL images don't include many of the extensions supported by Azure, it would be great if MS provided docker images that matched the hosted environment to ensure that a local/dev/qa environment can match Azure's production environment relatively closely.

  8. AAD login to Postgress with password

    Hi,
Currently I am login AAD to Postgres using 3 step method
    1. login to AZ
    2. generate access token
    3. Login to database

instead of generating token and login to database. Can we directly use AAD password and connect to database in single step authentication

  10. pg_stat_statements

The vendor of the application we are using[1] states in the documentation that the following PostgreSQL server parameter is mandatory:
    shared_preload_libraries = pg_stat_statements

It does not seem possible to set this value in Azure Database for PostgreSQL server.

We would like this capability so that we can host this app in Azure.

  12. lo extension

    Please add lo extension support.

This is documented by PostgreSQL as the ideal way to avoid creating orphaned large objects when said objects are owned by a single table; see: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/11/lo.html#id-1.11.7.29.5

Note that the extension is already supported on Azure Database for PostgreSQL Hyperscale (citus), so support only appears to be missing from single-server deployments.

  13. Support pg_background extension

This allows queries to kick off a background task query (such as logging said query)

Currently dblink extension can provide this functionality, but this exposes these requests over the network and creates finicky dns issues where the dns name must be known to the application and do split horizon resolution since the postgres vm's are not aware of private endpoints.

  15. Include pg_repack feature for azure database of postgresql

It will be helpful if we have pgrepack feature in azure database for postgresql to handle bloat.vacuum full will place an exclusive lock on the table and until the vacuum full is completed the transactions related to that table will be held if the vacuum full is performed at table level. So pgrepack is the alternate option where the reorg of table can be performed with out impacting any ongoing transactions.Performing repack during the time when there are less number of transactions to that table will decrease the overhead and can be able to handle bloat in efficient way.

  16. Add Support for PLV8 to Citus Cluster

Currently Plv8 extension is supported for individual Azure Postgresql Instances, but it is not supported for the Citus clusters. This makes it impossible for ISVs to rely on scaling their PostgreSql solutions via Azure if they're using plv8. Please support plv8 for Citus so that there is a scalability path available to architects and ISVs.

  20. Ability to use loopback IP in dblink as hostaddr

In AWS when using dblink, you can use loopback IP 127.0.0.1 as hostaddr when you are using cross database queries. When we migrate from AWS PostgreSQL to Azure Database PostgreSQL, we need to point the hostname to either the instance IP or server name. Hopefully this will be a new feature so that we can do the migration without changing the our codes every time we migrate to another server. For more details, here's the case ID 120031124003015.
