  2. Allow setting pgaudit.log for a particular session

It would be a nice feature to allow setting server parameters like pgaudit.log for current active session using query:
    set pgaudit.log to NONE;
which can only affect the current session's parameters and leaving the instance level setting as it is so that for new connection/session it uses the default/global server parameters. Aws Rds for Postgresql supports this.

  4. Allow postgres user to be able to execute ALTER TABLE “my_table” DISABLE TRIGGER ALL

I am working with multiple users on shared tables. As the users belong to a dedicated role "public" I am in the need to run "ALTER TABLE "public"."NewTable" OWNER TO postgres;" on every new table which we create manually.
As I want to have any new table owned by the role postgres instead of the user role I want to to create a trigger function and a trigger event to change table owner automatically . Unfortunately I can't create trigger events as I am not a superuser nor do I have the credentials for a SU by default. I am…

  7. We would like to have Network Tab on portal for PostgreSQL

We would like to have Network Tab on portal for PostgreSQL.

It should have 3 options (like CosmosDB):
    All Public Access
Public Access with just selected vNETs
    Private Endpoint

  8. SQL Editor for PostgreSQL in Azure Portal

Can we have SQL Query Editor for PostgreSQL in Azure Portal where we can query PostgreSQL database?

Similar feature is available for Azure SQL.

Can this extension be considered? It generates pseudo random uuid that improves indexing because of the ordering of the byes.

  10. Make status messages more consistent and reliable

For the purpose of checking network access protection we run overnight over all public endpoints a connection test to see whether appropiate network secutity measures has been taken. We do that also for PostgreSQL databases. As we know the URL, but not the password, we will never succeed to connect to the data, but we can test network accessibilty with no harm.

It turns out that we get a lot of inconsistent error messages, with the same network firewall settings in de PostgreSQL database. These can be very confusing, as a database that is reachable but refuses to connect due…

  11. Enable PostgreSQL ATP via Policy

It'd be great if we was able to turn on ATP for PostgreSQL server via policy. For CosmosDB there is a policy definition 'Deploy Advanced Threat Protection for Cosmos DB Accounts'

  12. upgrade next major version automatically

Now, PostgreSQL on Azure can not upgrade to next major version automatically. This process is huge cost and steps for partner/customer.

I think below document and steps is only supported.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/how-to-upgrade-using-dump-and-restore

Is there a plan for upgrade to Next major version automatically?

  14. API to copy the automated backups of azure sql databases and managed instances

We want to keep the transactionally consistent incremental backups for more than 35 days. The automated backups doesn't allow that. Long term backups are taken at weekly (monthly/yearly) frequency and we want backups taken hourly/daily. The export of database via sqlpackage is not transactionally consistent. Hence, an API to copy the automated backups of azure sql databases and managed instances would help us. The similar API is supported by the amazon RDS.

  16. Renaming a Postgres Server Name

After promoting a replica DB to a standalone server with this command
az postgres server replica stop -y -n -g

The new promoted server name is taken from prompted replica server name (which in most cases the name contains a replica substring and after promotion it raises some ambiguity as a name for master database)

  17. Better support of AAD groups for audit purposes

Currently there are two ways to authenticate with an Azure PostgreSQL database:
    1) as a user / managed identity
    2) as a group

    1) has the advantage that the correct user is logged in PostgreSQL's (audit) logs, but the disadvantage that a user has to be both created and authorized. Currently there is no automation that handles the creation/authorization.
    2) has the advantage that no user has to be manually created (only the group needs permissions), but the disadvantage that only the group name is logged in PostgreSQL's (audit) logs

Currently there is no way to only use AAD groups…

  18. Support Azure AD authentication for PostgreSQL Flexible Server as soon as possible

It's exciting to see the improvements Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server (currently in Preview) has made over the old single server deployment model.

However, at the moment it's missing a critical feature: Azure AD authentication, which is available in the older single server SKUs.

Without this integration, VMs/Apps etc cannot utilize AAD managed identities to securely authenticate against the Flexible Server without using passwords. It's an important feature that I'm sure those who're on Single Server won't want to give up.

Hopefully this can be accomplished by the time Flexible Server goes GA, or at least soon after that.

When can we expect support for the PL/Python extension for the Azure Postgres Database. I would improve overall functionality massively.

  20. Service health notifications do not specify about PG minor version upgrades

Neither Service health notifications do specify nor Azure publishes details in the RDS portal about PG minor version upgrades. Please try to enhance the notifications or by any means of communication in providing more details to the end users.
