Invoke-ASCmd for PowerShell Core
Currently, the module SqlServer doesn't import all cmdlets when running PowerShell Core.
I find this very confusing because there is no place in the Azure documentation that mentions this restriction. Actually, the documentation promotes the usage of the Invoke-ASCmd in multiple situations but doesn't mention that this can't be run in Azure services like Function App or App Service because they use PowerShell Core.
The only alternative I could find is to run the same on a Virtual Machine, that's something that I didn't want to do: I have to do all the start-stop mechanisms to simulate something "serverless".
Here's an example of a doc mentioning the SqlServer PowerShell module without giving any advice on how this would work on a PowerShell Core environment.
Is there any alternative other than using Windows VMs and Invoke-ASCmd?
Azure Analysis Services is probably one of the worst integrated products I worked with. It has to be the ultimate expression of the old Microsoft trying to play the good guy act.
The tooling for anything that has to do with the VertiPaq engine seems to go against everything that I would call good development/architecture practices.
