  1. Support charts with more decimals (+Y-Axis auto scaling)

I really like the Azure ApplicationInsight charts, but I would like to see charts with autoscaling (y-axis) for my floating point custom metrics.

For instance I have lots of floating point values like 10.2345678 with a change of ~0.00001 and the charts only shows 10.23, 10.23, 10.23 and so on...

I would love to see more detail here!

    Thanks.

  2. Would it be possible to view custom events on the live metrics stream?

No idea how you would do this but it would be pretty amazing if you could view custom metrics on the application insights live metrics stream!

  3. Drag the components

The components should be movable when viewing the Application map in Azure portal.

  4. "Total of Server Requests by Request Performance" should be ordered by Request Performance

The second default graph on the Overview page for my ASP.NET web application is "Total of Server Requests by Request Performance".

The data in the chart is currently sorted by request performance. To understand this chart currently, I have to read down the "Request performance" column and think about the duration that each of those rows represents, and whether that's acceptable or not. I can't tell anything "at a glance".

If the chart was instead sorted by the request, I could glance at the "shape" of the chart, and see that most requests are acceptable (<250ms) but some are in…

  6. display of pinned query limit 7 days

it appears that when pinning a query to a dashboard, the graph display is limited to only 7 days regardless of the underlying query.

is this possibly a bug in the display, held over from when there was only 7days of stored data? now that we have a 30 day timeframe for data, it would be good to see that in pinned graphs.

  7. automatically enable requests tracking for Mobile Services

LIve metrics don't work for mobile services. I want the live tracking also on the mobile services so I have my heads up display that can show me real time usage of the backend

  8. Allow custom metrics to be specified as TimeSpans so they use the same chart display as PageLoad & Dependency Durations.

Some of the built-in AI event types (PageLoad, Dependency) have Duration metrics which are treated as TimeSpans and the charting tools support appropriate scaling when displaying aggregations of those values (e.g. hours, days, etc).

But at present all metrics in CustomEvents are simply defined as doubles without associated metadata, so there is no way to specify when one represents a TimeSpan and should be displayed as such.

  9. Allow custom event data to be configured as charts just like the default metrics.

I am recording data in custom events e.g.; duration an operation execution. I need a chart to see on an average how much an operation takes to execute across users/sessions/geography etc. I see no way to configure a chart based on my custom event data that can give me counts/average etc.

  10. A way to tell App insights that service is server-side only

Our app is server-side only yet we get prompted for PageLoad time graphs and Applicatoin Map client side configurations etc, Many graphs will never show data.

If I can teach App insights that there will never be any client side info it would be great if the UI adapted and did not make it seem like I am not using all app insights features.

  11. Lower granularity when in Full Screen

In the Azure portal allow metric explorer with a lower granularity when making the 'blade' full screen (double clicking the top bar).
Eg. by default 24 hour view has a 1 hour granularity. By making the blade full screen it will have a 10 minute granularity.

  12. Allow access to Live Metric Stream data feed for building custom visualizations

Allow access to the underlying live metrics stream so I can build realtime visualizations in any such tool (ie, vizceral, d3, etc)

  13. Carry time selection from overview to detail

When I look at the application insights overview screen, I often change the timeframe from the default of 1 hour to 1, 7, or 30 days. If I then click on one of the areas, such as failures, it always arrives on that page showing 24 hours. It would be great if it would carry my prior selection forward so that the information it displays matches what I was viewing on the overview.

  15. Add Grouping By Resource Types

It would be useful to have an ability to group by resource types on Application Map: Azure Web Apps, SQL Servers, Storages and etc. We have multitenant application and by having this ability it will be much easier to collect average metrics.

Thanks for the feedback. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  16. Manually define tiers in appmap

When tracking many nodes, the appmap autolayout quickly becomes quite messy. A feature to define a tier level or tier name to nodes to add some manual grouping to assist the layout would go a long way.

  17. Pin hierarchical view of Application Map to Dashboard

Currently we can only pin the organic view of the App Map to a dashboard. We should also have the ability to pin the hierarchical view.

  18. Auto-refresh Application Maps on Dashboards

Currently, all metric charts on a dashboard have the ability to auto-refresh on a Dashboard, but application maps do not.

We find the app map to be a very useful monitoring across our whole solution, but it's completely useless on a large tv screen if it doesn't auto-refresh.
