  1. Add a server filter to the Live Metrics Stream

On the Live Metrics Stream it would be useful to be able to view the metrics for a subset of servers. Currently it is only possible to view all servers together or a single server.

For example, if I had a Virtual Machine Scale Set (VMSS) representing servers hosting an application gateway and another VMSS representing servers hosting back end microservices, I would like to be able to select all gateway servers to view metrics for the combined set of gateway servers.

  3. Show percentage between the failed requests and total requests for each URL

In the new Failures tool (in Preview), would be useful if you could add the percentage between the failed requests and total requests for each URL

  4. Select multiple server to monitor the health of the servers

Currently we can only select one server which filters everything to that server., but I would also like to select multiple servers or all instances of a particular instance

  5. Add optional resource group filter to Live Metrics Stream

I would like to narrow my view down to only a single resource group when viewing the Live Metrics Stream. In my case I have similar assets deployed to different resource groups. Seeing them all together is good, but I would also like to see one (resource group's worth) at a time.

  7. Add Cloud Role Name to Live Metrics Stream

On the Live Metrics Stream, the list of servers is displayed.

    1. Allow to list a column called 'cloud role name' next to the server name. This makes it clear which server correlates with which server.

    2. Allow easy filtering of the entire page by 'cloud role name'.

When multiple roles share a single application insights resource, it an be hard to figure out which server is doing what. Still, it makes sense to log in a single app insights resource in order to have the relation and querying benifits.

  10. IIS LogParser view in appinsight

Recently I have started using AppInsight and I found this to be very good monitoring tool as compared to appdynamics. I'm not sure whether this feature is in place. I would like to see Metrics view in AppInsight with options to view tabular details for the http request. Similar to IIS Log parsers. This will help analyse quickly which one is failing , pass, redirected etc. Overall search filter with trace, request looks good but it require bit of training to set right parameter and query. The inclusion of IIS log like query in built or ability write custom will…

  12. Autoscale Web App take into account the number of instances running

The current feature of auto scaling is on based on one metric like CPU or memory.

I would like to have a matrix with 2 metrics in it. CPU or Memory along with the number of instances running at that moment.

This will enable me to logical downscale the instances. For example:

    2 -> 1 instances: at < 30% CPU, which results in around 60% CPU on 1 instance

    For
4 -> 3 instances: at < 45% CPU, which also results in around 60% CPU on 3 instances.

For now when a day of work starts with 1 instance and…

  13. display of pinned query limit 7 days

it appears that when pinning a query to a dashboard, the graph display is limited to only 7 days regardless of the underlying query.

is this possibly a bug in the display, held over from when there was only 7days of stored data? now that we have a 30 day timeframe for data, it would be good to see that in pinned graphs.

  14. Support updating the query for a graph.

After pinning a query w/graph etc. to a dashboard, i can't edit/update the query, in-place. i'm forced to goto analytics, which creates a new query, when modified the only option i have is to pin the new query to my dashboard. then edit the title of the new graph, delete the old one and rework the layout.
would be really great if i could simply edit/update the query associated with an already pinned graph.

  15. Allow manual entering of application insight annotation

    1) Don't limit annotations in Application Insights to just releases

    2) Allow manual entering of application insight annotations in the AI web app, not just from a step in the release process

  16. Provide capability to export/import metrics/event/adhoc query, graph, settings from one AppInsights instance to another

i'd like to export all or some of my charts, settings, and queries and move them around from one instance to anther

  17. Allow grids to be pinned to the dashboard

Currently, you can pin charts (either built-in or ones created in Metrics Explorer) to a portal Dashboard. However, pinning a grid does not seem to be supported. This would be very useful for data that is grouped around things like the operation name or dependency name.

    We appreciate the feedback!
We have recently improved the selected columns experience in Log Analytics to automatically include columns you extended – read all about this new update in this blog post:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/azure-monitor-log-analytics-ui-updates/

Regrading the saved queries experience, we are currently working on improving the saved/shared queries experience in Log Analytics and we will definitely take this feedback into account.
Stay tuned for new updates and improvements as they become available.

  19. automatically enable requests tracking for Mobile Services

LIve metrics don't work for mobile services. I want the live tracking also on the mobile services so I have my heads up display that can show me real time usage of the backend

  20. Enable more cohort analysis tools in Application Insights

We are using AI for assessing the usage of features using custom events, but better ways of seeing changes in usage over time within Application Insights queries would be beneficial (new chart types and cohort groupings)
