Stack includes several F*s_v2 machines with hyper-threading. Still, however, nested virtualization is not enabled. Having access to nested virtualization in Azure Stack would allow the use of third party tools that depend on nested virtualization. These tools are an important part of the development/test/deployment cycle.
This is kinda bonkers that it's not supported, right?
The hardware we all have supports it, Hyper-V supports it, even full blown Azure (which is pretty backward generally when it comes to virtual machine features vs Hyper-V) supports it.
Yet somehow Azure Stack still doesn't support it.
This just blocked my use of Azure Stack for a sizeable new project platform.
To run nested virtualization, we have to use v3 virtual machine sizes (like Dv3 or Ev3). However, v3 virtual machine sizes are not provided for Azure Stack yet. Nested virtualized environment on Azure Stack will allow user to develop and operate systems on Azure Stack in the same manner as on Azure, and will allow to replicate systems developed on Azure to Azure Stack.
