(General Feedback)

Do you have an idea or suggestion based on your experience with Azure? We would love to hear it! Please take a few minutes to submit your idea in the one of the forums available on the right or vote up an idea submitted by another Azure customer. All of the feedback you share in these forums will be monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Azure.

This forum (General Feedback) is used for any broad feedback related to Azure. If you have feedback on a specific service such as Azure Virtual Machines, Web Apps, or SQL Database, please submit your feedback in one of the forums available on the right.

Remember that this site is only for feature suggestions and ideas!

If you have technical questions or need help with Azure, please try StackOverflow or visit our MSDN forums

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Customize claims in id_token to be issued by Azure Active Directory

Currently claims in id_token is not editable. So far developers must use graph apis to retrieve user's attributes that are not included in id_token, but if admins can edit claims to be included in id_token, they can get additional claims more easier. And in case of the application is placed inside of firewall, it is not easy to connect to Azure AD graph endpoint from the application directly.

  2. Modify QnA Maker provisioning process to support selection of an existing App Service Plan instead of a new App Service Plan being created

Provisioning a QnA Maker Service provisions a Public App Service App <yourAppsName>.azurewebsites.net, but you are not given any control over the App Service Plan for which the App Service resides. My first choice would actually be an App Service Plan in our ASE environment, but if that isn’t doable at least let us select one of our existing public App Service plans to host this in.

A 1-1 ratio of App Service Plan to App Service is extremely inefficient.

  6. NV series with Premium Storage

I would really like it if the NV series offered Premium storage. We have apps that require a GPU and high performance. Azure seems to keep offering new versions of the NC series while ignoring the NV series.

  7. In azure storage explorer change timezone from GMT to local time (data lake store)

In azure storage explorer, it'd be nice to be able to change timezone from GMT to local time (data lake store), this feature would be very useful as we check if our processes went through sometimes by looking at the last modified date of a specific file, while we have this automated sometimes data scientists and other users can quickly tell if something is not up to date.

Is this feature available? This only works only for Shared Access Signature but not ADLS

  8. Allow tenant admins to manage Enterprise State Roaming data

Allow tenant admins to manage/delete/clear Enterprise State Roaming data. Furthermore allow users to manage their own data, e.g. managing Wi-Fi profiles/networks etc.

  9. Allow automatic upgrade of Azure AD Connect with custom sync rules

If you have a custom synchronization rule in Azure AD Connect, AADC will not be auto-upgraded due to UpgradeNotSupportedCustomizedSyncRules.

It would be great if AADC can be upgraded even if there's a customized sync rule to keep the environment up-to-date.

  10. Azure SQL service endpoint with on-premise connectivity

Currently azure SQL service endpoint is only available within azure network. Is there any possibility to leverage this to on-premise machine via site-to-site/Express route.

  11. Azure AD - SaaS - SCIM provisioning of AD attribute thumbnailPhoto

Azure AD SCIM Provisioning should allow for the provisioning/mapping of the AD attribute thumbnailPhoto to SaaS applications. This value is already present within Azure.

  12. Let me arrange web app settings by alphabetical order!

Currently the web app settings have no option for order control in either the old or new portals. Allowing administrators to arrange these alphabetically or at least have a default alphabetical order would be very helpful.

  13. Allow horizontal scrolling on a pageable grid

The way that Scrolling is currently implemented, it forces both a vertical and horizontal scrolling.
We would like to use paging for getting more rows, and horizontal scrolling to enable the user to add many columns, and still see them clearly.

  14. vmss

When adding a Inbound NAT Rule to a load balancer, I get the following error: "Full virtual machine scale set support for the portal is coming soon. Adding or editing references between load balancers and scale set virtual machines is currently disabled for load balancers that contain an existing association with a scale set."

How soon is "coming soon"? I've seen this error for about 6 months now.

  16. Allow tagging of "hidden" resources

Currently, you can tag most types of resources using portal.azure.com, Powershell or any other tool for that matter. Tagging "hidden" type of resources (for example Microsoft.Network/networkWatchers) is hidden on the portal, but they can be tagged by using a Powershell script which for example tags every resource inside a resource group.

This behaviour is inconsistent, because after this, listing tags on the portal show that the specific tag key:value pair is in use, but you won't see which resources use it. You need to rely on Get-AzureRmTag or other means to actually reveal which resources are tagged.

    As of currently,…

  18. Password Validation in Azure SSPR

As of now, when user is trying to change his password via Azure SSPR user gets a generic statement stating that "the password does not meet the complexity etc...".

Instead of the above statement/message we want some message to be displayed in azure SSPR on the fly (while user is typing the new password) below are few suggestions.

    1. The password should be at least 9 characters long
    2. Do not use repeat password.
    3. Employee cannot use user name as password
    4. Password should meet below criteria
4.1. Password must contain lower case letters
    4.2. Password must contain upper…

  19. Enable access to PDF invoices for additional users/groups for Azure Germany

Right now, only the account administrator can access PDF invoices within Azure Germany.

This Microsoft article describes in detail how to enable access to monthly PDF invoices for additional users/groups:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/billing/billing-manage-access

But according to a statement from a Microsoft customer support engineer, this is not available for Azure Germany.

    Why is that?

  20. user account for Azure P2S VPN

Right now Azure point-to-site VPN client only using a client certificate for all users to access the Azure point-to-site VPN. For security standpoint, this is really not a good practice. It will be nice if we can have a configuration like other VPN clients, which we can create user credentials (username & password) to connect to Azure network via point-to-site VPN without using a client certificate. This way, we can secure the connection if someone leaves our company without having to recreate the root/client certificate for all users again.
