How can we improve Microsoft Azure Lab Services?

Want ability to take and manage snapshots

often when working in a lab environment / testing software , it saves a lot of time being able to take a snapshot / rollback to a good known point so that you don't have to start from scratch.

I just lost my VM due to an endlsess 'apply updates do not turn off restart' cycle :-(
Now I need to rebuild one - what a waste of time! :-(
If I had a snapshot of before my VM was doomed by windows updates, if only I had a snapshot...
Alas this is not yet available
    bitter whining

I agree that production snapshots like the ones available on Hyper-V 2016 would be super useful and make production level changes more efficient when needing to roll back quickly.

It's very surprising that most of the people at Azure don't know the idea and the Workflows of taking and restoring VM snapshots. This is something that is supported in Hyper-V from the beginning.
We want to be able to take a Snapshot of a VM which includes a Point-in-time snapshot of the OS disk and also any data disk that is attached to the VM.
This snapshot data Can be stored in the same storage account where also the original VHDs of the VM are.
For restoring, I should simply choose the specific snapshat and click "restore". The VM then would be restored (OS and data) back to this Point in time.
This shouldn't be so difficult to be achieved. Microsoft already has it implemented in Hyper-V, why not using it in Azure?

I would like specially to be able to apply a snapshot to a vm, so that I can quickly restore and restart because I have a new to test our application that requires a custom server install wizard. Creating a new VM from a base image is just too slow.
