This would still be very useful! We can use extended properties to create standard descriptions for fields that can be leveraged across multiple tools. Thanks!

We use extended properties to keep track of the objects state. We store the hash-value of the CREATE TABLE statement in an extended property.

Flagging PII columns using extended properties allows us to accurately and dynamically flag these columns and deny access to a DenyPII role. Makes life so easy.
Extended properties are also gold dust with handing over to end users.
We have such a rich extended property metadata stores this is a large blocker for us.

We do a lot of raw data dumps into our APS appliance and allow those tables to get hit natively as well as utilized for ETL transformations into a more curated form. Not being able to place Unique key or Foreign key constraints on the tables forces us to have to document those relationships in an external repository like a SharePoint list. Keeping the list up to date and accurate is always a challenge. If we had extended properties we could make the schema itself much more intuitive to work with.

This can aid in situations where SQL Server extended properties have been used to provide similar exposure to metadata.
