SQL Data Warehouse doesn't support some functions which SQL Server supports.
I hope those functions are supported also on SQL DataWarehouse for migration.2 votes
At the moment can get the resume/pause activities through activity log in Azure Portal.
If there is provision to add message when paused/ resumed it would be helpful to trace back the on demand pause/resume requests happened over the time when audit happens.1 vote
Allow for Local Time Zones to be set on SQL Azure DB's12 votes
In Azure SQL Database, we have DTU Calculator which helps to choose required DTU. Similarly, is there any plan to develop utility to determine required number of DWU or cDWU. I understand, that this is not straight forward as DTU.7 votes
In the Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse documentation it says that you can connect to the instance using ODBC. However, the link to the ODBC driver is to a driver with a licence which is for software design, development and test.
It's not clear whether there is an ODBC driver in existence for production use.1 vote
Intellisense is a very handy feature when using SSMS to write queries against Sql Server databases. It increases development time by reducing typographical errors.
It would be nice to have with Sql Data Warehouse.38 votes
Thank you for all the feedback folks. Unfortunately full intellisense support for SSMS is taking longer than we’d like. We will reach back out when it is on the roadmap and can share when we have an update.
Exclusive locks wait until all the select queries on the tables are completed.Instead if an option is given to switch between locking mechanism (i.e either use FIFO locking mechanism or the current locking mechanism)3 votes
CTAS to a new table is often a pattern that's used in DW for data processing workloads. Instead of RENAME OBJECT operations from old tables to the new ones using CTAS, it would be great if we can add synonym support to DW, so that switching to the new table is an atomic operation, and is reliable.49 votes
Azure SQL DW does not support SSIS Profiling Task because PERMISSIONS function is not supported. It would be good if we would be able to profile data directly in ADW.9 votes
Capability to monitor progress for transaction rollback3 votes
Thank you for the feedback. We are continuously improving the monitoring experience with SQL Data Warehouse. We will reach back out when this capability is on the roadmap and can share when we have an update.
Enable elastic query for SQL DW - this would allow cross database query in SQL DataWarehouse.168 votes
We are looking into this capability for a future release.
This would allow an enterprise to have a Production Data Warehouse with SLAs in place while allowing a data scientist/Business user/Subject matter expert to do analytic and discovery work without impacting SLAs and without moving data (which usually is pretty large).
At the same time it would allow for metered consumption and chargeback towards the subtenants that are conducting analytic discovery work.
The functionality would be similar to what can already be done today with HDInsight and Azure Blob. Data in Azure blob can be independently accessed by multiple HDInsight clusters.28 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. We are looking into this scenario for a future release. 7557959
I'm having an issue where I've a pipeline which calls an SP on Azure SQL DW. I've set an interval of 15 minutes, however a new run starts as soon as one of the run finishes. It appears that it does not look at the interval.2 votes
Is this still an issue? If not, we will close the item to clean the backlog.
